[Gaelcon] Wargames

Posted this to wargames@... a few weeks ago, no reply. Just
posted it on irish gaming website, and now here too!

A couple of questions:
1) The website says the 40k tournament is 2,000 points... is this
accurate?
2) What points is the warhammer fantasy tournament?
3) Will both the 40k and fantasy tournaments run all weekend, or will
one run one day, another the next? If so, which runs on which day? How
many games will be played, in what kind of timeframe?

Thanks for any help,
-Brian

Re: [Dominicon] Wargames

Oh! While I'm at it...
Wargames at Dominicon: In previous years, it was one day of 40k, one day of fantasy. Is this still the case
this year?

D&D at Gaelcon

Does anyone know if the D&D game at Gaelcon on the Saturday is 3(.5)rd
Ed. or 4th Ed.?

Regardless both Mel and myself will have scenarios for 4th Ed. at the
con for 5 players. We may hsve spots for players, probably playing in
or around the bar area Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Bear in mind that neither of us have played or GM'ed this version
before so it will be a learning experience for all of us.

I realise we've chatted about this before, but I simply don't see the
point in playing 2nd Ed just 'cos. I'm not wholly convinced on 4E
yet, but 3.5 is a far superior system.

Horses for courses, of course.

Old fart systems for old fart gamers, in other words.

I'll be up for it Jim, but I don't know if Jonesy is going. I'm also
up for some Magic games or WoW if anyone is playing. I miss card games
:( If anyone else is looking for players for stuff, I dont mind making
up the numbers. I'm game for pretty much anything. Think of me as a
mercenary or a rent-boy if that tickles your fancy. (which I hope it
doesn't as I'm spoken for)

I would agree that 3rd Ed. (and 3.5) is a superb system, at least from
a player's POV. It allows you to build very different characters, no
more generic wizards, fighters, clerics, etc. although you could play
them if you wanted to as well. I genuinely believed there was no
reason for a new edition.

Having said that, I like 4th Ed. I think it might have received a
better reception if it had been called something different, i.e.,
released as a new separate game, maybe Dungeoncraft or Wardragon.

I hope some 3rd party publishers continue to support 3rd ed. as I
intend to play that as my regular fortnightly/monthly Saturday game
for the foreseeable, but I do want to see how the new version plays
which is why we're going to play it at Gaelcon.

Hey,
Can anyone confirm the dates for Dominicon. There's nothing on the website.

Philip.
