I hope I'm not ruining anybody's celebrations by already pushing
toward next goal. ;-)

Most likely next release-kind of event will be 2.4.0-beta1. It's up
to you to decide if you want to work on your S2_4 translation already,
or do you want to concentrate on S2_3 only at the moment. (I'm sure
there will be another real S2_3 release before final 2.4.0 is out)
Several translations have been improved in S2_3, but not in S2_4,
since S2_3 was merged to trunk in October. It would make sense for
some of this to make a new merge from S2_3 to S2_4 before starting
active S2_4 translation work - why to translate again in S2_4 what was
already translated in S2_3.
Let me know if you want me to do merge from S2_3 to S2_4, or any
other merge for that matter, for your translation (mention which .po
file it is)

I'm not in a hurry but usually short of time, if that makes sense. So I
guess ultimately whatever option will require the least amount of
translation and re-translation for gd?

Thanks very much,

Michael

Your release party sounds like fun, so I'm coming for the next one :D

As for the Polish locale, I keep tampering with the translations from time to time between releases, so all I need is POTs from S2_3 and S2_4 (and even TRUNK if it's not too much of a problem) to update my files from time to time. I'm comfortable with merging and keeping locales for separate branches in sync myself.

Oh, we quickly need new reason to party then. I'm afraid we cannot
release 2.4.0-beta1 in next couple of days. So I'll just make new
snapshot build. Will that suffice?

Well, I think we should do S2_3 to S2_4 merge just before you start
actively translating S2_4. Doing it earlier will miss any translations
you do to S2_3 after it.
 So:
 1) Do you want to make gd.po translation for 2.4.0-beta1, or do you
translate official, final, versions only?
 2) Do you plan to work on S2_3 translation anytime soon? (You are at
100% currently, so this would mean improving existing strings rather
than translating new ones)

Or maybe, since many bugfixes go to both S2_3 and S2_4, you'd like to
translate S2_3 (which itself would not be in string freeze, but
contain same bugfixes as S2_4) just a bit before 2.4.0-beta1, then
merge everything from S2_3 to S2_4, and translate remaining stuff in
S2_4.

Errrr... I'm not doing much improvement work right now, I haven't
spotted a lot that needs changing apart from some linguistic stuff that
can't be fixed due to the code.

I don't actually know what I normally work on tbh, normally I just watch
out for Jacob's emails telling people they're x% behind, then I go and
fix it :) Sorry I can't be more precise, I don't have the same handle on
what all these versions do and don't do.

This was actually rather important piece of information. Cleared my
head to not to take too pedantic approach to talk minute details
forever. I think I'll just merge any translation that has not been
touched in S2_4, but has been touched in S2_3, since last merge. This
can have any (minor) bad side-effects in rare corner-cases only. Most
of the time it's just big improvement. We can always make another
merge later if this time is not optimal for some translation.

Thanks for the translation Jordi! I think... ;)

You're welcome :) I'm sure what you proposed will be fine.

Cheers

I just did that. Translations that fit these requirements (updated in
S2_3 but not in S2_4) and were thus merged: fi, fr, gd, and ja. Also
pl would have fit the requirements, but I didn't touch that as Hubert
