About 2.1 translatable strings

One of the remaining issues before we can release 2.1.0 is help
system. We need to adjust help system, and to make it more complete.
This will add quite many translatable strings. Some of this work is
already committed (help texts for all the units previously missing
one, additions to government help).
Some other strings have been added to S2_1, when it has been
unavoidable for fixing bugs.

Every now and then problems related to translating are reported to RT
(thanks for those reports). RT forwards discussion about tickets to
freeciv-dev. Now, I imagine that other translators would want to
comment, or at least get the information from, those tickets.
While we have no better solution, we just try to inform freeciv-i18n
when we see such ticket. Already resolved #39638 (
http://bugs.freeciv.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=39638 ) is one such
ticket.

Just tell us if you've finished patching and announce a strings fix.
Then give us some time to come up.

New Translator

A chairdean,

According to Daniel it's customary for new translators to introduce
themselves. Briefly, which is probably best given that with my luck I've
probably just subscribed to a bathroom cleaners enthusiasts mailing list :b

Hm... what about me, I'm from Glasgow and run my own small business as a
Gaelic Language Service provider which is fancyspeak for doing translations,
teaching classes to adults (groups or individuals), running workshops,
producing learning materials... that sort of thing. Work aside, I've been
running a number of other localisation projects such as the Gaelic version
of Google. Not sure if I should mention growing tropical plants and a
fondness for exotic cooking ; )

Have always been an avid fan of Civ and stumbled across Freeciv earlier this
year. Since languages like Gaelic regularly feature in mainstream games
(harrr...) I thought it would be cool if there was at least one fun computer
game out there in Gaelic.

Sooo... as you probably guess, my line of work makes me a fairly good
translator but sadly I also happen to be slow when it comes to programming
and anything vaguely connected to it so I will probably rely heavily on your
expertise to get me started. So apologies straight away for my future dumb
noob questions!

Cya round

le meas,

Michael

Kind of. :} You're welcome.

This is a good thing. As you are probably aware, Freeciv is one of the
top volume GNU OSS translation projects, so being a good translator is
most valueable, given the amount and the topic of the text you'll have
to translate.

If you have technical questions, just ask. In some cases, you'll have
to look into the source code to find out what the strings mean. But I
suggest you post them here instead, so that developers can add a
translator comment to the source.

I have now handled all the .po -files except zh_CN.po, which seems to
get corrupted when I load it. I'll try to solve that soon.

I noticed that there was at least one translation that has been
maintained in trunk, but no commits to S2_1 has been made.
Most translations are maintained only in S2_1. At some point those
should be merged to trunk too.

Korean

Hi all,

I thought I'd better live up to my own standards and announce a new
localization here - Korean. =)

A first version is already committed to 2.1 branch. I'm not a native
speaker, but much like Roman I'm a European who has settled in an
Asian country. This project is pretty much a way to practice my Korean
typing skills and expand my vocabulary.

I'll do my best to work on the translation until a native speaker
shows up to take the helm!

And now government helptext should be viewed correctly, so check it
once again too, please.

S2_1: strings change

Good day!

Yesterday there were changes in 9 lines (*) of client/helpdata.c (in
branches/S2_1.) All of them are removing second trailing '\n' symbol.
I do not want somebody to change all of them automatically to prevent
possible errors and stimulate you to check translations once again ;)

(*) Well, there were changes in 12 lines, but three of them repeat
    previous.

S2_2 and 2.0.10

Branch S2_2 has been created from trunk revision 13566. This branch
is not yet in 'bugfixes only' -state, but will receive some features
too.

There will be 2.0.10 release from S2_0 branch.
