Re: l4d2 demo sv_cheats

If you connect without a lobby (i.e. through console) you can still turn on
cheats.

Re: l4d2 demo sv_cheats

So only non-lobby server can turn on cheats? Thats sounds good.

Re: l4d2 demo sv_cheats

Correct. That's why it suggests using "map mapname", since that gets you
into a local server without a lobby. Similarly, when a dedicated server is
unreserved, you can connect to it without a lobby.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 Demo Update Available

I'll change the default location to be ../steam in the L4D and TF/OB srcds_run, since this seems to be what
everyone expects it to be. I'll see if I can make locating the steam binary a little smarter. The change I
made to allow you to specify the steam binary location didn't make it into this release.

./steam definitely doesn't make sense. ../steam makes more sense, but it isn't perfect because if someone
runs the install like this:

	./steam <...> -dir valvegames

Or something else, then steam isn't ../steam. It is ../../steam or something completely different.

Hello,

It looks like the autoupdate on startup is still broken.  I am using -autoupdate and -steamverify but I
still get the message "Could not locate steam binary" and then startup moves on without checking for updates.

It looks like the culprit is this section of updatesingle() in srcds_run:

if test -f "$STEAM"; then
    echo "Updating server using Steam."
    DEPOT_ROOT=".."

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 Demo Update Available

Maybe adding something at the beginning of the script to set a default
$STEAM value would be the best solution. The value could be replaced
later when the arguments are parsed, in case one was specified by a
command-line option.

Something like this:

... <set variables> ...

     if test -f ./steam ; then
         STEAM="./steam"
     elif test -f ../steam ; then
         STEAM="../steam"
     else
         STEAM=""
     fi

... <parse command-line arguments> ...

Re: goin full bore on l4d 2

Based off of the left4dead release, i'd have to assume that it's going to be
a fresh installation. No upgrade.

Re: goin full bore on l4d 2

I'm hoping it will be fresh. That is the way I have planned when
setting up my Demo, but ether way I'll deal with it.
