Re: rubycon, a HLSW clone for the terminal

Do you have a forum etc. for help? I can do this:

rubycon list
Server Map Players Ping
ooks private_beach_v2 0/16 13

Which tells me that the server "ooks" is configured correctly - it pings
it and gets current map and player count. Therefore the ip is correct,
the port is correct, and it is finding the server. Yet if I:

rubycon console ooks
Use CTRL+D to exit.
Connection refused. Wrong host?

idk why. The rcon password is correct, not really sure what else to do
with this.

Re: Policy of Truth: Respawn Times

From what I saw the moderators at Sourcemod forums not approve (or even un
approve existing) plugins that don't set the tags when they do something
that should be tagged.

So perhaps if valve started using the reports that we send them (F7 and or
other means) they could do something about it.

Servers does not show up in Steam server list

Hello,

we have moved our servers to a new host. Unfortunatly, they don't show up in
the Steam server browser. They show up, when I query the master server
(hl2master.steampowered.com) directly by a script.

Someone knows how to solve this?

Best regards

Ronny

Re: [hlds] TF2 MOTD and Quickplay

I am against anything that disables MOTD.
If anything, is there a variable to detect if HTML MOTD's are disabled on players?
That might be helpful to try things one way if HTML is ok, and use backup method (menus for example) if they are disabled.

I have very popular chat-trigger, used for troubleshooting player connections, that takes them to a page
displaying information about their IP address, and reading it off for them. It's "!moan" and goes to Moan
My IP dot com.

As I'm sure most are aware, a little while ago Valve changed the TF2 MOTD
panel so that it can't be reopened by the server if the client joins via
Quickplay (or using the matchmaking argument on the connect command).
However, this just prevents the MOTD panel itself from redisplaying. The
server can still open pages in the client's MOTD panel in the background.

This means that the server can still spam traffic-to-cash URLs on clients,
many of which have noise-making Flash embedded or which open popup windows
using JavaScript. In order to maintain the "sterile bubble" in Quickplay,
Valve might want to consider preventing servers from opening webpages on
Quickplay-joining clients entirely, not just preventing the panel from
being redisplayed.

Re: rubycon, a HLSW clone for the terminal

Just got it up and running, very nice, better alternative to sourcebans
in some respects :0

Nemrun for SteamCMD

So, a few people have been bugging me to release my updated version of
Nemrun for SteamCMD... so here it is:
http://tf2files.rbemrose.com/nemrun-steamcmd/1.8.7/

This is based on Nemrun 1.8.7.

The new (required) parameters are actually the same ones the server uses
with its newer -autoupdate support:
-steam_dir - The directory steamcmd lives in. Replaces -steamdir (which
was for hldsupdatetool)
-steamcmd_runscript - The steamcmd script to run. Relative paths are
treated as relative from the steam_dir.

Net Buffer Overflow in MvM (Many waves?)

I run a set of MvM servers on Debian Wheezy x64, and have been
experiencing a problem with net buffer overflows partway into long
rounds of 30+ waves after the SteamPipe update. I recently discovered
via SPUF that other server owners running comparable popfiles have also
been having this problem, which gives random users net buffer overflows
during the round, and keeps them from re-entering the server.

Unfortunately, despite using every available remedy (increasing rates on
both client and server, trying to cap currency via plugins, etc), we're
all still receiving this issue, so I'd like to hear if there's any way
to help the devs debug this. There are no unusual log entries to
report, even with -debug, as the users disconnected just show up as
"Disconnect by user". I'd be happy to provide Wireshark packet
captures, but I suspect that the packets involved are encrypted and
wouldn't do much good without the relevant keys. The client's log
merely shows these two entries:

Disconnect: Buffer overflow in net message.

Host_EndGame: Buffer overflow in net message

This is a huge problem for our servers, and on my end, many users are
beginning to leave, as the only way to "fix" it is to restart the server
process or change map, both of which cause a disappointing loss of
progress into a long mission.

The popfiles we use are here on my github, if needed:
https://github.com/N3X15/failtrain-30wave-popfiles The engineers do
spawn and do their thing on our end, since we use an add-on to spawn the
relevant hint entities, but it should work fine beyond that on any other
