Diplomacy Going Back Into Print?!

Sorry for the crossposting, but this is good news for the Hobby:

It seems a bit strange that someone just stumbled across this, rather than
there being some official announcement, but a preorder option for Dip is
evidently available at Funagain Games:

http://www.funagain.com/control/product/~product_id=018474

Interesting box cover, and it looks from the description (315 total pieces,
including SC ownership indicators) that each country may get 15 of each unit
type (17x7 of the ownership counters, 15x7 armies and 15x7 fleets equals
315).

The map, from what I can see of it, seems attractive, but odd. The province
borders are altered, though the *relationships* of the provinces seem
correct. It is difficult to tell from the small picture available.

Final Started

I was scouting through my yahoo groups and took a quick look at
the usually-spamfilled WM-Results group, and lo ! The Final is
underway. The only thing missing is a list of the players, some of
them I can devine from the nicknames used by Jan-Willem, bot
others remain a mystery...

Interesting game, by the look of it :p

Re: [WM04-Results] Re: WM04SF06 Lee's E-mail

Hi Lee,

I'll just add to that rant that I find that message which has replaced Sky News on my TV fatuous to say the least.

  Hi Guys,

I am just completely at the end of my tether with the incompetent, dishonest, cheating, mealy-mouthed
so-called media company that supplies my broadband, telephone and cable televison services. I won't go
into too much detail, I'm sure you've all experienced similar, but to call Virgin/NTL a shambles would be
an insult to shambles.

Anyway. I've just instructed my bank to cancel the direct debit order I have for my broadband service after
they cheerfully advised me by e-mail that they are, once again, set to take double the amount of money from
my account as they're entitled to and finding impossible to contact them through their so-called
Customer Service line, and I've e-mailed them telling Richard Branson where he can stick it. I'm not
having these morons helping themselves to money from my account when I can't even get on to them to sort it out.

I can't live without broadband. But I'm sure there are lots of alternative providers; as there must be for my
t.v. and telephone. But if they do pull the plug on me, in between soring out a new ISP for myself, I may have to
submit orders and exchange (very much truncated, unfortunately) diplomacy from a friends service,

150 000 !!! Yes It's Unbelievable

Well well well. Who'd a thought it. Only three years to rack it up,
since the solitary whispering in a deserted WM chatline with
Marmaduke. This calls for some celebratory Wanking, I think.

Open up the Bar, Cheezebags ; but none of that Oz chilled spew, let's
have some proper ale here - and don't forget to haul the Three Slutty
Sisters in, without them, where would we be? Not in RiskWanking, I'll
be bound :)

Diplomacy World Cup Charter

Here is a proposed draft Charter for organizing a Diplomacy World Cup (Internet) Tournament. This Charter
seeks to set out the organizing principles which could be used to stage such an event. A yahoogroups list
has been set up to facilitate discussion across communities concerning this Charter and the staging of an
inaugural World Cup.
This charter springs out of a debate within the DipWorld community. But seeks inclusivity of all Diplomacy
communities. Please forward this document to all who might find it of interest.

A new yahoogroups listserv for discussion of this Charter and any future World Cup has been set up at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/DiplomacyWorldCup/
Subscribe by sending an email to:
DiplomacyWorldCup-subscribe@...

A webpage has been created at http://www.embassysa.co.za/worldcup/worldcup.php to carry revisions of
the Charter.

The Diplomacy World Cup Charter
  1.. Preamble
In Most sports, the highest form of competitive play is the International, the Test Match, The World Cup, in
which national teams compete to see which nation is the best in the World at their chosen sport. In
Diplomacy there are tournaments, both face to face, and via the Internet in which players from many
nations compete. There have been tournaments in which players are geographically chosen. However,
there is no truly national team competition akin to a World Cup.

The aim of this charter is to set out some of the basic guidelines and principles which could be used to
sanction tournaments which operate as a World Cup of Diplomacy.

  2.. Definitions
    1.. The Diplomacy World Cup
An Internet tournament organized on a regular basis, hosted by any site, in which teams competing are
organized on the basis of the nationality of the players. Hereinafter referred to as The World Cup.
