Grass shadow on consoles

Hi everybody,
just curious about the possibility to render the grass shadow in realtime on consoles.
Are you aware of some game that has this feature?
I was wandering if there is some kind of screenspace possibility to exploit, or do you have other ideas.

Thanks!

Re: Grass shadow on consoles

Kind of a general question... you can certainly render grass shadows pretty well with cascaded shadow maps, for instance, and cascaded shadow maps work fine on consoles.  Do you mean more specifically?

The question is more - would you actually  want to do that, since rendering all of the grass into a shadow map is far from free and of arguable visual impact.  Doubly so if you mean that you want the shadows to cast ON to grass, though again, certainly doable with (amongst other things) cascaded shadow maps.

Re: Grass shadow on consoles

We had the snow particle system in SH:SM both cast and receive
shadows, and that was on the Wii, so I don't see any reason why you
couldn't do the same with grass rendering.
