Rules questions

We played a few games with the "Glide" board I bought from the
Hilinskis and got to Texas in time for our gaming weekend plus.

Got a few rules questions:

If you're playing match play, and the game ends in a tie, how do you
score it?

Is it like fencing, and both players get a victory?

Do you shoot for the center hole in sudden death, first one wins?

Do you do it college football style, and both players shoot
alternating for the center hole?

Do you do it soccer style, and the player with the most 20s in the 12
discs wins?

Several games have been played, and many kind words have been
uttered...along with a few not so kind ones from the results of
certain shots.

The first rule about Crokinole is that nobody talks about Crokinole...
oops... wrong movie. The first about Crokinole is that there are no
OFFICIAL rules. Any of the above methods would work, as long as both
players agree prior to starting the game. Personally, I like to play
2 more rounds (giving each player 1 turn to be first and one turn to

looking to buy!

Hi new to the group. I live in Burlington , Ontario and I am looking to
buy a good Crokinole board. I use to play all the time when I was
younger and my parents had a real good hardwood board. Any help anyone
can give me would be great thanx!

I believe there is a significant advantage to the person who has the
hammer (the last shot), which is why I recommend two rounds instead of
one.

RE: looking to buy!

Hi Terry, I can help you get a really good board at the right price. These
boards were used at
the world Crokinole Championship this year. I also will have a video
available in a few days which
tells you how these boards are made and how to play the game. You can email
me at
paulsorley <at> hotmail.com or call me on the phone at 519-893-5550, I just love
to talk crokinole. All the best, Paul W. Sorley

Two sources I'd recommend:

  hilinski.net
  crokinole.com

There are others.

J C Lawrence They said, "You have a blue guitar,

I'll second the Hilinski route. I just received my
board "Aspiration" a few days ago.

Crokinole at the WBC

Next week, we will be running a crokinole tournament at the World
Boardgaming Championships (WBC) in Lancaster, Pa. The Boardgame
Players Association (BPA) sponsors the event. You can find more
information at http://www.boardgamers.org/. Scroll down to the juniors
events for details.

We will be running the event on saturday, August 5th, from noon until
3. It will be two-player teams where each team will be an adult and a
kid (or two kids in a pinch), so if you happen to be in the area with
your kids, drop on by. I guarantee that every team will play at least
two games (4 boards) against two other teams. This is NOT a serious
event to determine the best players ever! It's for fun! So if you
stink, it doesn't matter; come on by and play, or at least come on by
and you can meet Carl and me, if you can stand it. We will be
shlepping six or so boards up from Maryland and Virginia for the
event. Plaques and pictures for the winners.

Stan Hilinski
