Hi! I'm a new member (^^,)

hello, my name is Steven.

I'm a new member here and I join because I wanted to ask for some tips
on how to fix/polish a card/board game my friends and I have designed.

If anyone is intrested in seeing what type of game it is, you can visit:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/theroom_game/

The game is called "The Room". It's somewhat played like the subgame in
FFVIII.

Hope you can help me make this game more fun and intresting.

Thank you.

selling games

Thank you to all who post here, whatever the topic. Thank you to the moderator(s) and
forum founders. I sell a game of my own design & manufacture locally (retail). I would be
interested in hearing from others who do the same - to share experience, tips, etc. The
MLM/party plan company "Simply Fun" is the only non-traditional game seller I know about -
haven't seen any others at fairs & flea markets. I haven't tryed roadside vending yet, but am
looking forward to that next spring. By the way, I first went down the traditional marketing
path of licensing to a major company. I can't say it was a mistake because the royalties were
good for a couple of years. But that path is so strewn with deep potholes that I think game
inventors need to find more ways to work together to get their games out there. Fairs & flea
markets can be a good bet if your game is good. The problem is not enough product
diversity. There should be a co-op of inventors/manufacturers selling each others games at
flea markets and craft fairs. Peace.

Re: selling games

Hi there Chris,

I'm really interested in your comments. We are just about to go
through the process of trying to licence our game and I'm
particularly interested in your 'strewn with potholes' comments.

Could you tell me what some of the potholes were that you needed to
dig out of??

Long time lurking...

Just wanted to say I've got a new game design that will be published
through Z-Man Games. I hope to get a "making of" post up at some
point. Still working on final art, but should be out sometime mid next
year!

Cheers,

Dylan

I really like the look of the cards. I can't say that it reminds me of
any other game- which is a good thing. Too many games today look like
clones of each other. Keeping your game artwork different enough from
the rest will set your game apart. I for one will definitely order a
copy when it is on Z-Man's site. Are there special tokens and dice as
well? I couldn't quite tell from the pictures. Best of luck!

Sincerely,

Karl Boucher
