$ cat /tmp/my-dvc-init-file.el 
(load-file "$HOME/emacs-lisp/dvc/dvc-load.el")
(custom-set-variables '(dvc-prefix-key [(control ?t)]))
$ emacs -Q -l /tmp/my-dvc-init-file.el

Gives me C-t in the menus, and C-t A gives me the list of archives
even the first time for example (Emacs 22).

Can you describe more precisely your problem (how are you loading
Xtla, which Emacs version, ...).

Indeed, yes, for some reason, this doesn't work with Xtla, but works in 
DVC. After a quick look, I don't find any difference, so I believe this 
is due to some black magic in the autoloads generation, that I don't 
want to port back from DVC to Xtla.

In the meantime, you can do this

(setq tla-prefix-key [(control ?t)])
(load-file "$HOME/emacs-lisp/xtla-1.2/xtla-load.el")

which works for me.

Subject: Bad news: the new build system still doesn't manage dependancies correctly

I just had the case of an incorrect .elc file preventing me from
compiling DVC, while the .el file had been corrected a while ago.

make clean && make

solved the problem. I believe I'll just be too lazy to investigate
more, but just to mention that although better than the old one, the
new build system still isn't bug free .
