As it turns out that we can't use AIST's resource anymore
for this mailing list, I created the project "mule" at
savannah.gnu.org and created the mailing list
mule-en <at> nongnu.org under that project.

I will register all addresses to that mailing list for the
people who have sent me subscribing requests.

I still accept the above subcribing request.

[mule-2009:03559] IMPORTANT! Re: change of the service body of this mailing

AIST has decided to outsource the email system to Google.
So, this mailing list will be moved to a Google group (the
name will be mule-ml <at> aist.go.jp). The security policy
of AIST requires that we get explicit subscribing requests
from those who want to join the new Google group.

So, if you want to keep subscribing to the mailing list
regarding the mule (MULtilingual Enhancement) facility of
Emacs, please send me <handa <at> m17n.org> a mail with the
subject of this format:

Subject: subscribe mule _YOUR_MAIL_ADDRESS_

The current plan of moving schedule is as follows:

2012-04-28
All addresses I received as subscribing request are added
to the group (manually by me).

2012-05-01
Start using the new Google group.
Mails to mule-2011 <at> m17n.org are forwarded to the new group.

2012-05-31
Mails to mule-2011 <at> m17n.org will be returned as error.

[mule-2009:03558] change of the service body of this mailing

Dear mailing list members,

Currently this mailing list is served by AIST (our lab.)
itself, but AIST is going to outsource its email system.
So, this mailing list will be managed by a cloud-based
system soon. If you do not want that kind of service,
please unsubscribe this mailing list.

To unsubscribe the mailing list, send "unsubscribe" (without
quotes) in the mail body to the relevant address below:

[mule-2009:03557] list addresses changed

Dear mule subscribers,

To avoid SPAM mails, the addresses of our mailing list have
been changed as follows.

[old]
mule <at> m17n.org
mule-ctl <at> m17n.org

[new]
mule-2009 <at> m17n.org
mule-ctl-2009 <at> m17n.org

The old addresses are void. Please use the new addresses
from now on.

The "X-ML-Name:" header is not changed, i.e. it is still
"mule".

We'll change the addresses every year. In the next year, we
will use "2010" at the place of "2009" in the above
addresses.

emacs and indian scripts

Bonjour,

I have a problem with mule: I want to build multilingual texts to be
processed by xelatex.

I want 3 wrintings (+ latin): devanagari, bengali, tamil. I will
describe the problem for the two first, for I think that if someone
helps me to solve the bengali problem, the solution will apply to tamil.

Firstly, I had some problems with devanagari which has been solved
installing cdac fonts; intlfonts are of no use and create problems for
indian scripts as far as I could see....

So exit devanagari from the list of problems but, I keep it for comparison.

One can read in
~ /usr/share/emacs/22.1/lisp/international/fontset.el.gz:

~ ;; Indian CDAC
~ (,(indian-font-char-range 'cdac:dv-ttsurekh)
~ . (nil . "Devanagari-CDAC"))
~ (,(indian-font-char-range 'cdac:sd-ttsurekh)
~ . (nil . "Sanskrit-CDAC"))
~ (,(indian-font-char-range 'cdac:bn-ttdurga)
~ . (nil . "Bengali-CDAC"))

And in
/usr/share/emacs/22.1/leim/quail/indian.el.gz:

m17n-lib on mule.m17n.org...

新しい mule.m17n.org (or mule.m17n.local) には m17n-lib はインストール
されているでしょうか。

もしされていなければ、インストールしてもらえますでしょうか。

そして、m17n-db はどこにあるのでしょうか。

Composing Hindi Characters in Emacs after reloading files

Hi,

We use the input method devanagari-hindi-transliteration in emacs to
type Hindi characters. Some of the characters are displayed as fusions
(for instance `so'). After reloading the file the characters are
displayed in isolation again.

From

http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/SupportHindi

I learned that there is a comand that does the fusion:

> > When you reload a file in which you had typed some hindi, the
> > characters are disjoint and not formed into words. To convert them
> > back, this works for me: M-x indian-to-devanagari-region, followed by
> > M-x devanagari-compose-region.

My question is: Can this be done automatically? I.e. when I load a file
can a header line or something be used to rearrange everything in the file?

In addition, I printout messages to an emacs buffer and the characters I
use there should be fused as well.

Due to software constraints I have to use UTF8 as encoding.

Thanks and greetings

	Stefan
