I'm pleased to announce that Kirill A. Korinskiy (catap) and Detlev
Zundel (dzu) have joined the "team", and now have commit access to
jabber.el. This will hopefully make things flow a bit smoother ☺
As the current bug tracking system (which basically amounts to the
things I remember or happen to write down) will be insufficient, I'm
trying to revive the Sourceforge trackers. Find them here:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=88346
I also created a mailing list, emacs-jabber-bugs, where all bug
tracker messages go; it is called gmane.emacs.jabber.bugs on Gmane.
(There is already a CVS commit list, emacs-jabber-commit or
gmane.emacs.jabber.scm)
Some developer rules (well, they're more like guidelines):
* Almost everything should be in the NEWS file.
* Almost everything should be documented. Either do it right away, or
put a note in the NEWS file.
* Provide good defaults for customization options.
* This mailing list, the MUC room jabber.el <at> conference.jabber.se, and
the various trackers are good places to discuss things.
A challenge for whomever wants to try it: implement customization
options for setting up several accounts, and make jabber-connect use
it. Think about passwords, connection types, forced hostnames/ports,
etc. My own attempts result in me trying to overcomplicate and
overgeneralize everything…
Happy hacking!
