Bug? Just me?

If I `a'dd a message to a group, either in the group or summary buffer,
message-setup-hook appears to run normally. mail-signature bound to a
function works.

If I `f'ollowup to a message or `C-x m' (message-mail), they work.

But if I `F'ollowup to a message, message-setup-hook does not appear to
run, nor does mail-signature bound to a function seem to work.

limiting the summary buffer to certain addressees

Now that the summary buffer can display the To: info of messages
I sent, I often feel like limiting the buffer to those messages
sent to a particular person. Is there an analog of `/ a'? If
not, can this be added?

Pterodactyl Gnus v0.84 is released

A new release to celebrate the first of May!

Back in my other life, things have been getting kinda busy. There's a
deadline on June first that I have to keep, and since it's going to be
a lot of (very enjoyable, I think) work, I probably won't have time to
do anything constructive on Gnus for the next month. If I get lots of
patches, though, I'll apply them and ship off a couple of releases.

Anyway.

Get it from <URL:http://quimby.gnus.org/gnus/dist/pgnus.tar.gz>
or "/ftp <at> quimby.gnus.org:/pub/gnus/". The patch is available as
<URL:ftp://quimby.gnus.org/pub/gnus/ding-patches/pgnus-0.83-0.84.diff.gz>.

ChangeLog since last release:

The virtual server that wouldn't die

Attempting to create a virtual server has led to an immortal nnmh
server.

Following the instructions in Gnus info for creating and editing such
servers I see this is not what I need. But now have an nnmh server in
server buffer that will not be removed.

Any attemp to 'k' it or edit it for that matter, now fail with a
message that the server is "read only". Originally I was able to edit
this server. Closing or opening it, still no killing is possible. How
can I get rid of this server?

After several restarts the hardy server is still hanging on.

patch: \201 when cache (was: bug: \201 in summary buffer)

When I enter an article with non-ASCII in subject to cache, \201
appears in summary buffer when I reenter the group. The reason is that
gnus-cache-possibly-enter-article uses the existing headers which may
contain mule characters. I guess this may also cause Kai's bug.

Here are two patches. The first forces
gnus-cache-possibly-enter-article to re-parse the headers. The second
does a deep clean job, removing parameter `headers' of
gnus-cache-possibly-enter-article.

highlight words in article buffer

This patch is to highlight words in article buffer. You can setup the
words in gnus-group-highlight-words-alist (gnus-summary-visual group)
or in group parameters (*Gnus Customize* buffer). Read the
documentation of gnus-emphasis-alist first.

Best wishes for whatever you are doing. I just thought I'd like to say
how much I appreciate your work. Gnus is for me the most important piece
of software on my system. I have been an extremely picky user of mail
and news systems ever since I started as a news administrator and then a
systems administrator - now I get to be a systems integrator and still I
think your software has the most powerful features I have seen. I have
now used it solidly for my own personal mail for well over 3 years - the
longest I have ever kept to one particular program. It still surprises
me how much more I can find to do with it!

Keep up the good work.

Best wishes and sincere admiration!

Suggestion for the manual

I think there is one thing that would be very nice to have in the
manual - pointers to where in the Gnus customize buffers variables are
customized. On several occasions I have spent time trying to locate
certain variables. Since there is no way to search the customize
buffers (as far as I know), it can be hard to find where that variable
gnus-group-foo-bar-p is located.

The reason I feel this is important is that I'm trying to get away
from using setq in .gnus.el as much as I can.

On a non-related, mostly out-of-topic, issue I'm having problems with
w3 displaying emails. I have this in .emacs (from customizing w3):

 '(w3-user-colors-take-precedence t)

Never the less, emails are displayed with the white background defined
in them. If I load .emacs again after w3 is loaded, everything behaves
as expected. I'm using have 4.0pre31.

There are the useful `customize-variable' and `customize-apropos'
commands (in XEmacs 20.4, anyway), which might be what you're looking
for.

Doesn't M-x customize-variable RET gnus-group-foo-bar-p RET work?

(or help -> customize -> specific option if you're into menubars)
