Emacs for Arabic

Sorry to have kept you waiting so long. Emacs with Arabic capability
is finally available. It is still primitive and provisional. We
welcome any suggestions and bug reports.

Excellent. I for one have been waiting for this since the 20.4/alph patch...

How far is this from supporting Hebrew?

If Handa-san has correctly translated Ehud's algorithm (sorry, we have
scarcely tested it), it should give you a nice bidi reordering.

Other than that, nothing special for Hebrew. Hebrew points and
accents are not supported. I even forgot to include an input method
for Hebrew. Do you want to have one?

Yes! And thanks for making this available.

Depends on Handa's available time. Unfortunately, we are very busy
until the end of July.

Is leim/quail/hebrew.el reasonably usable?
If not, send me an ASCII -> Hebrew mapping table that you want to have.

Yes. I use it all the time.

Good. The Arab-ised Emacs we have just released comes with that input
method. So you can test both Handa's simple bidi algorithm and Ehud's
translated one with Hebrew characters encoded in ISO 8859/8.

What is missing is support for Hebrew characters in the
mule-unicode-0100-24ff charset. Do you want it, too?

It would be nice to have that. Thanks.
