Re: WikiEducator traffic ranking

Dear Dr. Wayne,

Definitely it is great and a matter to be rejoiced.   I also understand that now a day WE is being frequently referred to by non-WE academicians, students and others also. It is an indication that WE has been recognized by the global knowledge society.

But as a mad lover of WE,  I  would like to see 100% of our membership is active!!! <smile>

Community Council

Hello Council Members,

After a fury of activity with the election of the council, the first
official council meeting and subsequent appointing of members things
seem to have gone quiet in this capacity. I would like to start a
discussion of roles and responsibilities and start to get moving on
some outstanding issues. We could even form some working groups,
etc...

Was a specific google group set up for council?

Look forward to hearing back from you all.

Cheers,

Peter

Re: CCNC

Dear Peter,

Answering the queries.

  1. Yes, I think we will get volunteers. Before answering this questing I thought I would make a simple analysis on our Members having IT background/aptitude. I also thought that rather than searching the profiles better I would search IT based content pages and the pages will introduce me the author. I have created a Category:CCNC and started searching for pages. Please see the result of a few minutes work at http://www.wikieducator.org/Category:CCNC  captured from the first few search results …hundreds of results are remaining. From among them we will be able to find out suitable candidates, based on some strategy that is to be formulated. However I am not against giving incentive for peer review etc
  2.  Apart from the financial side two aspects of funding I have observed during my involvements in one funded administrative reforms programme, well structured funding conditions can be a guide and catalyst in the programme side.  Number two, a part of goodwill of the funding institution comes to the funded programme. Therefore I am not against the idea of funding from recognized institutions, that itself will promote the project.
  3. I think, for the time being we may keep the third option open, perhaps the new ODL foundation can do it

We are also required to assess the existing status of this project. Since it has been commenced as a COL funded programme, we may ensure whether it will continue. If it will continue, we may find-out one University partner also. I think Dr. Wayne’s inputs are very much required here.

Anil,

Thanks for this reply. I get a sense that things are building toward a
successful completion for this CCNC project. Lets hope we generate
some excitement within the community. This whole discussion is begging
a few questions for me, they are;
1) do you see people participating as volunteers?
2) are we going to align with a University or Philanthropist to
provide funding?
3) are we going to align with an existing ICDL organization to create
a source / revision base for ongoing ICDL materials publishing.

I believe the $$$ / volunteer discussion is as important as the others
within the scope of this project.

Sincerely, Peter

I'd suggest that you would do better to attempt to reach consensus
among the wider WikiEducator community and take any proposals
developed to the Council rather than starting there.

Thanks Judy. I'll contact you directly.

Are you going to be on "booth duty" at specific times? Perhaps we can
get others interested in Open Textbooks and WikiEducator to stop by
when you will be there.
