Re: Fwd: :: TALO :: another nail in the LMS coffin?

Should we look into this in more detail for possible implementation in
WE?

The message board will no doubt be some tweaking on LQT that we're
using here. COL and Wiki collaborated on funding the development of
LQT.

I like the field input boxes -- on personal info -- especially for
newbies. We could hack this to use Brents rather cool Personal Infobox
template.

We would need to tweak the fields a little so that they are more
relevant for our audience.

What do folk think?

Research Survey on Adoption of Wiki Technology

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently conducting a research survey on Wiki technology. The
survey title is called "Survey on Adoption of Wiki Technology
Innovation".

The objective of this survey is to deepen the understanding of the
initial adoption of Wiki technology innovation by individuals in
organizations, and the Wiki technology's diffusion within the
organization. It is based on the theoretical framework of Roger's
Diffusion of Innovation. I would appreciate your expert view and
feedback on this survey. Also, I kindly seek your assistance in
forwarding this email to your colleagues, friends, or anybody you
think use wiki in organisational settings. I hope it will not take too
much of your time and apologize for any inconveniences.

Here is a link to the survey:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=zfANP1maT_2ffOLCMljGEMbA_3d_3d

This short survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and will
greatly assist in the study of the factors that influence the adoption
Wiki technology innovation.

Thank you very much for your time!

Warmest Regards,
Weizhang

Re: Research Survey on Adoption of Wiki Technology

Hi Weizhang,

I've started completing your survey, but find the way some of the questions are worded to be confusing.  When you say "corporate wiki" do you mean a wiki that is owned & managed specifically by the organisation that you work within?

If you do, then I suspect that most of us here will not fit your survey criteria.  I use WikiEducator, but our organisation is independent of the WikiEd management structure.

Kind regards,

Re: Research Survey on Adoption of Wiki Technology

Hi Weizhang,

Thank you for bringing this to the attention of our WikiEducator group.

When you generate and analyze your results, would you be willing to provide us with a summary, or part of the report. We are developing a research node on WikiEducator, and survey results like this would help our community.

http://www.wikieducator.org/Research

Many thanks - and good luck with your survey!

Also, have you considered using Geoffrey Moore's technology diffusion / adoption model - "Crossing the Chasm?

Re: Research Survey on Adoption of Wiki Technology

Hi David,

You raise an important issue here - the language of the survey, and of course, the 'meaning' of the language.

It's very important that there's a shared meaning behind the language....you have questioned the validity of his survey - before it really gets going - that's valuable input.

I would be interested to hear Weizhang's answer to your question, and also see if he clarifies it in a new iteration of his survey.

Re: Joined Wiki Educator

Dear Prof Chandrakant,

It's indeed a privilege to have SNDT Women's University join the list.
Welcome aboard!

If you haven't done so yet -- do take a look at the India Country page
-- its one of the best country pages in WikiEducator. I would
recommend that you also add your name to the contacts and projects
currently being planned in India.

See: http://wikieducator.org/India

We should look to see if we can arrange a dedicated L4C online
workshop for Asia. Do you think there will be colleagues from SNDT
Women's University who would like to enrol for wiki training?

Cheers
Wayne

Re: Research Survey on Adoption of Wiki Technology

Hi Lin Weizhang

As you will have seen our community welcome and support research on
wikis.

Have you decided on the license which you plan to use in releasing the
results? Strictly speaking the copyright of the responses belongs to
the respondents -- so, I'm hoping that you will release the results
of your study under a free content license. Particularly since our
community supports and promotes free content.

Having looked at your survey -- I think this needs some refining.

Is this a survey on the use of wikis in the corporate enviroment? and
how do you define corporate? WikiEducator is a community project and
the technology infrastructure is funded by an international non-profit
organisation. So I'm wondering whether the respondents from the WE
community will bias your data? and I'm not sure how you will
differentiate the responses. Poor research design leads to poor
results <smile>.

Anyway -- Just a few thoughts for you to think about in your research
work.

Cheers
Wayne
