final deliverables sent & thanks!

Dear colleagues

I’m writing to let you know that we have submitted the final WebLabs deliverables. They are all accessible in the member area on http://www.weblabs.eu.com/index.jsp.

I will be in touch with some of you about details for the project report and the final cost statements which I will be putting together in the next 2 months.

As it’s the last day of the project, I’d like to say thanks again for all your help. It’s been a pleasure working with you, and I’m glad I got to meet at least some of you (I’m sorry I didn’t get to travel more!). Please do get in touch if you’re ever in London. I have a job at the Institute for another year, so will continue to be on this email address.

Regards

Sophie

London terrorist attacks

Dear colleagues

You will have heard about the horrific terrorist attacks in London today. Thankfully, despite happening extremely close to the Institute, no-one in the WebLabs team has been directly affected.

Regards

Sophie

Thanks & tools/ToonTalk

Dear colleagues

Thank you for all your help with the review. When I hear from the reviewers, I will be in touch about the additions and adjustments we will need to make to the final deliverables and reports. Meanwhile, I would appreciate your feedback on the following points:

1. Julian and Ken would like to know for sure if all the tools and guidance are in their final form so they can work on the next WebLabs edition of ToonTalk. If you plan to make any changes, could you let me (and Ken) know very soon?

2. The reviewers suggested that we find out from all the partners what aspects of ToonTalk worked well and which ones didn't with the children and teachers. Could you send me a brief report on this by 13 July?

Regards

Sophie

project evaluation - comments by 23 JUNE

Dear colleagues

Further to my email regarding the review agenda and our evaluation of the success of the WebLabs project, please find attached an updated version of Celia’s draft project evaluation report – these supersedes the version I sent yesterday.

As I said on my previous email, please would you have a look through it, and send me your comments and any additional points you would like to raise, by 23 JUNE.

Thanks

Sophie

Final review agenda & preparation

Dear colleagues

Thank you for all your help in getting the draft deliverables together. I have sent them to the reviewers, and they are all up on http://www.weblabs.eu.com/ in ‘documentation’, under the heading 'docs for reviewers 2005'. If you decide to do any further work on any of them before the review meeting, please take those as the latest versions, as we have made minor edits (not affecting any of the content) on most of them.

                                                                                                                                                 &nbs p;

I attach a revised review agenda with more specific notes about what we would like you to prepare for the meeting. THIS SUPERCEDES ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS (so questions regarding previous versions may no longer be relevant).

We also need your feedback regarding project evaluation (as per my email of 31 May, and copied here again, within the agenda document) by 23 JUNE.

Any questions, do ask…

Regards

Sophie

All deliverables due 13 JUNE + review agenda

Dear colleagues

This email has 2 purposes…

1 – to remind you that MONDAY 13 JUNE, 12 NOON IS THE REAL DEADLINE FOR ALL OUTSTANDING DELIVERABLES, INCLUDING THE LEARNING EVALUATION REPORTS. We need to collate them on Tuesday and send them to the reviewers first thing on Wednesday.

We will send our draft final report on the same date – and still need input from everyone regarding ‘self evaluation’ (see my email of 31 May) and the ‘big ideas’ of the project.

2 – attached is the agenda for the WebLabs review. Our meeting on the previous day will be structured around the main two review sessions (that is ‘technical achievements’ and ‘learning outcomes’). There are four main sessions we need you to prepare for, which I have listed below – please read the agenda (and the notes on the following two pages) carefully for details of exactly who we would like to do what.

  1. 5 minute intro re: your role in the project and motivations

  2. 3 slides re: ‘technical achievements’

  3. Brief powerpoint presentation detailing your top level points re: ‘learning evaluation’ – please make sure you have clear conclusions, each backed up with some evidence - and this can be the basis for the 3 powerpoint slides per topic that we will include in the review session on learning outcomes

  4. Any further comments about project internal evaluation, and the ‘big ideas’ of the project for Celia to incorporate into her presentation

Please send us all your powerpoint slides BY 27 JUNE so we can plan the review.

Any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for all your help…

Regards

Sophie

WebLabs brochure

Dear partners

The draft text for the WebLabs brochure is on http://www.weblabs.eu.com, in the member area, at the bottom of the project documentation page (sorry it was too large to email). This is what we have sent to Julian who will put it into a printable form. Most of it is pretty much in its final state, apart from the final two sections (lessons learned/learning outcomes) which we will update later with pieces from your learning evaluation reports. If you do have any comments, we can discuss them when we meet on 30 June.

Regards

Sophie

Evaluation of project success - comments needed

Dear colleagues

Those of you at the Genoa meeting may recall that Celia asked you to write down your thoughts regarding the successes and challenges of WebLabs, and ideas for future related research.

This self-evaluation is something the reviewers want to discuss on 1 July – indeed Carlos specifically has asked for ‘Your own assessment of the work accomplished by the project including an overview of the main problems faced, as well as a discussion of the prospects regarding future developments and sustainability of the results’.

With this in mind, and using your comments from Genoa, Celia has drafted the attached document. Please have a look through and expand on/add to the points there, and send to me by 8 JUNE. Celia will then incorporate them into her evaluation presentation on 1 July.

Thank you…

Sophie

Photos for brochure

Dear all

Apologies for bombarding you with emails, but this is to remind you of materials we need for the WebLabs brochure that is being put together by Julian. In addition to the electronic logos, most of which he has now I believe, we need photographs of children taking part in WebLabs activities. They must, of course be ok to publish (I don’t know what the legal restrictions are in different countries – here we can’t show identifiable faces), and as high quality as possible (jpeg, tiff, high resolution, 3MB or greater).

In Genoa, we agreed that each partner would send 5 photos (if possible), each with a 1 line caption to Richard (and copy to me), by 27 May. We haven’t received any yet, so please could you get them to me by 1 JUNE.

Thanks

Sophie
