Software Development Opportunity in USA [Maxtor].

Dear Friends,*

A friend of mine is responsible for firmware and software development in 
the Branded Products Group at _Maxtor Corporation_. Maxtor is a hard 
disk manufacturer and develops drive capacities up to 500GBytes for 
desktop market. In the BPG group the hard drives are packaged in 
enclosures and some peripheral hardware; applications software is added 
and the products are sold as 'solution products' in consumer and SOHO space.

Windows and MAC software is developed at several levels starting from 
low level drivers, file system filter drivers, applications software, 
backup and disaster recovery software and much more. Development 
languages include low level assembly language firmware, C, C++, JAVA, 
Linux operating system.

They are already outsourcing development to India and other countries. 
He is interested in finding some good companies in Pakistan who have 
already done similar work.

Some of the desired work is listed in the following:

* Hard drive based consumer products software design. Develop and debug 
MAC OSX host application, driver software and installer in support of 
Maxtor external storage products. 

* Develop embedded Linux kernel, driver, application tools for storage 
products for network attached storage environment. Investigate, debug 
and fix compatibility issues in various operating environments and 
system configurations.
