What is CURE: The NoRagging Group

CURE was started by two students in the year 2001 under the banner of The
NoRagging Group. We started with an Online Discussion group and an informative
website. From that time, we have come a long way and today we are in process of joining an NGO as an independent
unit under them. We aspire to mature to an independent NGO by next year.

I will like to take you through our journey and activities across these three
years. For the first year CURE was basically an online group and extended
help by educating public about the phenomenon of ragging and extending support
to victims through emails.
In the year 2002, Harsh and Rajiv joined CURE and gave it a new lease of life. At the same time, many dedicated
members including Kiran, Rajan Srivastav,
etc. joined our group. This year and the coming year was an era of activity
which also led to the re-christening of The NoRagging Group to Coalition to
Uproot Ragging from Education.
Due to Rajan Srivastav, we were able to publish the story of Harsh far and
wide through an NGO magazine, thus making public more aware. Rajiv helped
us organizing a talk at Unnati’s (NGO) Seminar. This paved way and CURE
addressed talk show on Sab TV, organized talk show for DD-Bharti, etc.
Today, CURE has matured, it has a clear understanding of what it wants to do,
what are its policies, has an organizational structure and a list of projects it
want to take-up.
Welcome to CURE, we require your support to end the menace of ragging.

Essential Tips for a Happy and Healthy India.

Dear Friends,
 
Perhaps the only way to return to the good health that our ancestors enjoyed is to completely return to natural indigenous methods and to stop tinkering with nature. All the frontline thinkers in issues as diverse as health, to education, climate, farming and industry, are talking of this urgent need to change our priorities. Health is not only our wealth but is also a deep personal happiness, a balanced sense of innate satisfaction,  and the inward spontaneous urge to increase the happiness quotient of the world.  For we can be happy and healthy only if the entire world is happy and healthy.
 
As a stepping stone towards achieving the above objective, I propose that;
 
1. We should increase the holistic health budget from the curre nt 3% to 25%.
2. We should reorganise the medical education setup so that students can learn about all methods of healing and also get experienced teachers who can teach them the subtle nuances of holistic healing. (Our Health Minister has proposed this).
3. We should try to get the cream of the students who are interested in studying medicine, to study holism sincerely and practice it with integrity.
4. We should spread awareness about the holistic healing principles.
5. Babies should be treated holistically as far as possible so that they develop a better immunity base, thus leading to healthy, productive citizens. This will substantially reduce the current mammoth health expenditure.
6. Getting the holistic principles introduced into the school/college curicullums as compulsory subjects.
7.  The teaching of yoga and meditation  to all sections of th e society should be undertaken with urgency.
8. Introduction of value based education; ( also the teaching of the Samkhya philosophy, and the Vedic world view, the concept of One World - One Family.)
9. Strengthening of the family structure. Teaching the benefits of a restrained, moral life and also the need for respect between partners in marriage, as well as between parents and children.
10. Making health and education totally free for the poor and needy.
11. Making both these sectors open to caring, self sacrificing individuals who seek to serve humanity with a selfless motive.
12.Teaching the general population the basics of naturopathy and reflexology. (This has already been started by the International Institute of Naturopathy which has its HQ at Pune. )
13. Spreading awareness about the dangers of and fighting peacefully against harmful chemicals in our environment and food.
14. Encouraging the o rganic farming movement, reducing pollution and campaigning for vegetarianism.
15. Reducing tensions at the work place by ensuring better working conditions, better employer-employee interaction, optimum working time etc. 
16. Teaching students with practical instructions on how to live judiciously, with an eye towards developing better, healthy individuals,  and giving them sufficient time for appropriate recreation.
17. Caring about our environment and having fellow feeling towards other species.
 
I would request you all to kindly add to and supplement/criticise these rough suggestions of mine.

According to the vision that The Lord has given me, 7000 prayer warriors to join with me in organizing a collective chain prayer at your own places (home or Church), the prayer movement will begin from September 27, 2006 and will continue till 27 September 2013. Our prayers on the basis of Ezekiel36:37, 1st Kings19:18, Psalms2:8, Psalms85:9 (you are requested to read the verse given below)

Dear All

CURE is not a forum to discuss topics off RAGGING. Please write mails only relavant to ragging. Otherwise, CURE also promotes mails which are to exchange pleasantries and wishes on festivals and special ocassions. CURE shall also tolerate mails from other NGOs which are working for social justice and change 'once in a while'.

However, CURE doesnt tolerate any other kind of mails.

Specially, the content of this mail is considered communal, for INDIA is a secular country by the word of the Constitution and not a hindu, muslim or christian state,

In strongest words, CURE denounces this mail and at the same time, request members not to react to this mail creating more spam on the group without a need. In the case anyone believes that this mail is not communal, still there is no room for discussion about this on CURE. CURE is not meant to discuss whether this mail is communal or secular. Please write to me personally, if you care.

You have worked wonders for CURE and I really appreciate this effort.

However you are probably young and dont understand the implication of the mail you just sent. Touching religious topics or those linked to religious conversion are very sensitive. You can start getting hate mail for what you just posted.

Dear friend, I have condemned your mail at CURE in strong words, however I dont mean mean any harm to you and please dont feel hurt. I had to do this since otherwise, your mail would have sparked hundreds of reply mails coming in condeming it.

Please try to understand what I am saying and ask me if you have any questions.

India doesnt need to turn into a christian country. I am a Hindu, as much a Christian and as much a Buddhist... We all are the same, we dont need to convert.

Hi Varun,
I am sorry if I have done something wrong. I didn't mean to bring any religious discrimination around, nor did I mean to hurt the feelings or religious belief of any friends.
I just did what I thought was right. I have seen people posting photos of Ganeshji etc.. If it so then you must request them not to do so coz that is also related to religious belief.
My friend, I hope you understand what I mean.
Rest all is in the hands of God.

definitely, No Ganeshji except on Diwali, No christianity except on Christmas and No Islam except on Id... and so for all religions.

CURE doesnt believe in "NO RELIGION", it believes in ALL RELIGIONS. And for every religion to be tolerant towards the other.

I concur with everything you have said. CURE has a
singular focus and no communal message regardless of
origin is germane to our discussions here. For that
matter neither is any form of solicitation just as
jobs ads etc. Since this is mostly an unmoderated
group we are the collective stakeholders to ensure the
content is focussed on (anti) ragging issues.
