Jerusalem Post archives

Dear members of Melanet-l,

I have received a request from a faculty member to find and purchase
archives of the Jerusalem Post newspaper for the period of 1977-1979.
So far I have not been able to ascertain of if these are available,
either in microfilm or digital form. Any pointers would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank you for any help you can give!

I'm writing to you from Egypt. Just 4 hours ago the internet has been returned completely. On the political
situation, protests still in the field.

Re: Egyptian Internet restored

Unfortunately most links there still do not resolve to the correct address.
Websites that are online have information from several days ago.

RE: Fwd: Free access to news and information from Egypt online, now

Dear Peter,
I am very glad that you forwarded this to us. Thank you. Of course I was surprised by the choice of the user
name-India and password-Chutney. At least East view could have used Samosa as a user name? I am getting
already nostalgic about India seeing this type of interesting choices of passwords. No wonder
stereotypes are thus reinforced over and over.

Best,
Liladhar

Feel free to access news and information from Egypt with the following username and password from now until
Feb 28, 2011 (at no cost or obligation):

Status of the Library of Congress Cairo, Egypt, Overseas Office

Because of the current situation in Egypt, the Library of Congress Overseas Office in Cairo is closed.  At present, the Library does not know when the Office, located within the US Embassy just off of Tahrir Square, will reopen.  LC Cairo staff are safe and will return to work as soon as it is determined that it is safe to do so.  The Library will announce when regular operations will resume as soon as the situation changes.

RE: Status of the Library of Congress Cairo, Egypt, Overseas Office

Hi everyone--

Thank you Zbigniew for the update. I hope that all LC staff, including our good friend, colleague and MELA secretary, are fine.  Also, we wish the best to the many other (non-LC) colleagues in Egypt. It would be great if we can hear from them now that Internet access has been-almost- restored.

Best wishes,

-A.
