(unknown)

A reader here is looking for the complete text of a play written by
Muhammad Watad and entitled "Co-existence. " The play was probably in
Arabic, but I do not have an Arabic title for it. It was partially
published (in translation?) in the journal "New Outlook" [v.13, no.7
(1970)] which the reader has seen. The play concerned the Kfar Kessem
massacre of October 29, 1956 and was constructed out of interviews with eye
witnesses. Does anyone know where the full text of the play can be
located? Please reply to my email address: jwwein@...

Thanks.

INDEX ISLAMICUS QUESTIONS

INDEX ISLAMICUS: SURVEY OF FUTURE REQUIREMENTS

With the 1999 no.3 advance issue of Index Islamicus, just published, a brief
questionnaire has been distributed, which can be faxed back to the publishers.
More conveniently for many people, including users who are not direct
subscribers, it can also be completed and submitted on the Web at

	http://www.bowker-saur.co.uk/contact/IIsurvey.htm

Responses to this will be important in determining:-

1. Whether and when Index Islamicus is made available online via the Web

2. Whether and when gaps in past coverage will be filled, particularly for the
years 1986-92 (when no comprehensive volumes were published).

Decisions on these matters need to be taken in the very near future (we hope
before the end of 1999). We therefore urge all users of Index Islamicus, and
librarians whose readers use it, to complete and submit the form as soon as
possible. It has a space for "other comments" also.

Conference

The following may be of interest. You may note that it is scheduled opposite
the IFLA conference in Jerusalem, not unintentional.

Re: Conference

John--
I'm sure you know that it is no wonder the conference is being held
at the same time as IFLA, since the conference in Jerusalem is being
protested by Arab librarians in the Middle East on many fronts.
