Journal of Oman Studies

Our library has received Journal of Oman Studies upto vol. 9 (1987). Have
others received issues/volumes since that vol. & year? If yes, from what
vendor? I should appreciate any feedback.

RE: Journal of Oman Studies

			JOURNAL OF OMAN STUDIES

Vol. 10 (1989) was published: there are copies in the Haddon Library in
Cambridge and in the Institute of Archaeology in London. But I have not
been able to trace any subsequent issues.

"Sur un passage curieux de l'Ihathet,

sur l'art d'imprimer chez les arabes en Espagne."

"Ihathet" is in italics. Am not sure if it's a comma or period after
"Ihathet"; my eyes and the fiche reader wouldn't resolve well enough to see.
The title and subtitle are both entirely in caps, although if I recall
correctly the subtitle is in smaller letters. Author is given at the end,
p. 255, as "Hammer Purgstall".

previous message

My apologies for carelessly sending what I had intended to be a private
message to Karl Schaeffer to the entire list, rather than directly to him.

Should it not be rather: ....CatIntro.html?

looking for romanizers

This query is directed to those of you whose libraries include
South/Southeast Asia departments, or who might have contacts with S/SA
librarians:

I am looking for librarians who know Pak-Bengali, Telugu, or Burmese, who
would be willing to donate their services to do a page or two of
romanization in one or more of those languages. A friend and fellow
librarian is preparing a bibliography of the publications of a modern author
(not ME-related), that will include translations of her work into those
languages. The college whose library my friend directs does not have people
who can handle them. The work will involve LC romanization of full
bibliographical entries, which will be provided by my friend.

I would be grateful if those on the list who might know of such possible
romanizers could either forward this message to them or else put them in
touch with me.

MELA Notes

Hi Friends:

Fawzi Khoury, the editor of MELA Notes, and I have been discussing the
future of the Notes. That (future) does not look very good, because
of the lack of contributions. The Execucative Board will discus this
in its next meeting in November. I would like to urge you all not to
just think about it but do send in your contributions for the next issue.
Mary St. Germain agreed to fill in for Fawzi and prepare the next issue
for publication. So if have something that you have been working on and
never completed and would like to see it in print, please send it to Mary
ASAP. Mary's address should be in the last issue of the Notes.

Those of you who prepared articles for the ALA publication on the Selection
of Library Materials for Area Studies, might want to think about
publishing these articles in the Notes. I will be doing this myself
since we have not heared from the ALA people about the status of our
articles although Abazar sent in many letters of inquires.

See you all in November.

Midhat D. Abraham
MELA President 1996-1997.
