(GRE Success! ) File - Monthly Reminder

Hello,

This is to remind you that you are still a member of GRESUCCESS, a group that aspires to help people, and
dispel rumors regarding GRE, TOEFL, TSE, and other standardized tests, as well as, the entire
application process in general. The group is also attempting to broaden its arms with quaint research on
general aspects and observations of studying abroad. Please feel free to mail your concerns to the group
by emailing to gre-success@...

1. If you have any private queries, or if you are shy of asking a question in front of hundreds of people, let me
re - assure you that you are entering a group of cultured people who will not laugh, disapprove or hold you in
disdain. If still, you are apprehensive, please mail your queries to me at yamanoor@...

2. Kindly try to make maximum use of the group by accessing and contributing to the links, database, files,
photos and calendar sections of the group. Please be discreet. I shall remove any offensive material.
Kindly add to any of the relevant tables in the database. Please upload files that you think will be useful
for the members in the group. Kindly check for, and abstain from adding too large, or virus loaded files.
Please upload any photographs of yours that you would wish to share with us (This shall be subject to
scrutiny though..flimsy bikinis and flashy pets are fine...but I still insist on cross checking! :)).
Also, please upload any important deadlines that you think might benefit the group. It is also not a bad
idea to put up your birth date, test date etc on the calendar. This is a group full of fun loving people and we
would like to share your joy!

3. Unfortunately, our group does not have the rights to use the polls section. I don't know how that came into
existence. Kindly bear with me. We shall use free tools available on the internet for the same.

4. Please try to visit my home page http://www.yamanoor.com/gre/ to take advantage of the resources
linked, that shall help you in your entire application process.

5. Also kindly note, I strongly discourage any personal messages or communications across the group. I

We maybe able to provide you with some information, but we need to know about your qualifications first. What happened with the US? If you are still interested and give us your application history, we maybe able to help you with that as well.

Re: (GRE Success! ) Help regarding univ finalization

This coming from a very political, intemperate guy (politicians are permitted to speak as they like, and face the consequences) should not scare you. But the thing is, there are certain schools that view MS students as a great market, and not necessarily as future researchers. Like it or not USC is one of them. Separating the funding from the lopsidedness of teaching techniques or their absence at USC, your decisions should be based on financial rationale if that bothers you the most.

Don't expect to be treated as a princess/prince anywhere, unless you are one, and can travel back in time, or to exotic destinations.

Good Luck,

Srihari

Lakshmikanth <lakshmikanth.c-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:
Hi there,
I am from USC. If ever u are coming here.. please don't dream about
getting funding. As Srihari adviced, come here if funding is not AT ALL
an issue.

There are many exotic courses here (like nano-robotics, for example),
while this may seem very attractive. However, consider the following

1) U wont get to touch research unless u are a PhD student
2) No/Little Personal attention to students... Profs dont have an
inkling of an idea that u are in his/her class
3) MS students are treated like shit (pardon me for being unpolitical)

If getting a job is your only concern and u are ready to spend some BIG
amount for quality education, do come here.

IF you wanna do a bit of research , or if u wanna get funded... go to
rutgers.. that would be heaven.

Regards
Lakshmikanth

Hi all,

Need your help regarding the following problem:

One of my friends needs to send annual income certificate of the sponsors to stony brook. He has shown his father as the sponsor and they require his father's annual income certificate, which in the case of a self employed person is his IT returns form (saral form). His father was a businessman but since two years, he is not doing any business and therfore he can not produce the IT returns form. What he can do at most is get a CA statement stating his annual income, but unfortu nately Stony Brook people do not accept any CA statements for issuing the I-20.

Can you guys please throw some light on this. What is the way in such kind of situation?

Re: (GRE Success! ) NJIT OR UCR?

I am gonna guess that the fee in all the three univ (including the
scholarship in NJIT)
would more or less be the same. If you are coming for masters in CS,
UCR is good.
I have a research collaborator from UCR. From what I know it is pretty good.

A genuine bank loan and concerning financial statement with it should do I guess. Still he can submit his father's IT returns form with other statements.
