Re: (GRE Success! ) in a pathetic state---plz reply

Hello RKS,

hope ur in too confused state which reflects in your mail.By reading your mail it shows me that ur intrested in job than gre.i would like you to go on for a job and then prepare for gre.by these fourmonths u know how to tackle in your quant and verbal.When u look on to interviews ,the written test pattern is same as gre quant and verbal.so u just prepare for gre quant and verbal it will help u in clearing ur aptitude round it will also help u in your gre too when ur giving it later.
Then coming to gre test,u can give it after 5 or 6 months of hard preparation.As the admission process and visa process takes atleast a year to be completed,u can try for fall 2006 by these time u can get into a job and then prepare for gre.
regarding the companies u can tell them that i was searching for jobs for past 5 months&i have attended certain companies.usually it takes atleast a 6 month period to settle ina job after ur ug programme when ur not been placed in campus interview.
If u wish to apply for fall 2005 , u must give ur gre by january 2005 so that u can mail ur application form to university as the deadline is by march.regarding ur visa they might ask what were u doing for past one year.by the time of ur visa if u get into a job its ok else u have to produce some fake experience certificates which will be guided to u by some consultancies.
dont think that u have wasted ur time.by these four months u have learnt gre and tried for a job too.u have known something.something is better than nothing.hope this information is sufficent to u and u can well get suggestion from srihari too.
morever working experience will be a added advantage when u apply for colleges as well as ur visa.
wish u all the best.
regards
hari.s

Re: (GRE Success! ) plz solve this

well ! i dont know where you got those questions from..but i somehow think that the answer given by basic engineer may is not right....i dont intend to prove that you are wrong..please take no offense..i just mean to say that i have arrived at a solution which says the answer is 2 and not 5..this is just for awareness..i proclaim again....no offense whatsoever... here goes my solution..

expanding (x-2)3 we have

 x3 - 6x2 +12x - 8. which is nothing but

 [x3 - 6x2 + 6x]+6x - 8.

so, x3 - 6x2 + 6x = (x-2)3 - 6x + 8.

=> [(2 + 21/3 + 22/3) - 2]3 - 6(2 + 21/3 + 22/3) + 8.

=> [21/3 + 22/3]3 - 6(2 + 22/3 + 21/3) + 8

=> 2 + 22 + 3.24/3 .21/3 +3.22/3 .22/3 - 6(2 + 22/3 + 21/3) + 8

=> 2 + 4 + 3.25/3 + 3.24/3 - 12 - 6(22/3 + 21/3) + 8

=> 6 + 3.2(1+[2/3]) + 3.2(1+[1/3]) -12 -6(22/3) + 21/3) + 8

=> 14 + 6(22/3 + 21/3) - 12 - 6 (22/3 + 21/3)

=> 2.

(GRE Success! ) File - Monthly Reminder

Hello,

This is to remind you that you are still a member of GRESUCCESS, a group that aspires to help people, and
dispel rumors regarding GRE, TOEFL, TSE, and other standardized tests, as well as, the entire
application process in general. The group is also attempting to broaden its arms with quaint research on
general aspects and observations of studying abroad. Please feel free to mail your concerns to the group
by emailing to gresuccess@...

1. If you have any private queries, or if you are shy of asking a question in front of hundreds of people, let me
re - assure you that you are entering a group of cultured people who will not laugh, disapprove or hold you in
disdain. If still, you are apprehensive, please mail your queries to me at yamanoor@...

2. Kindly try to make maximum use of the group by accessing and contributing to the links, database, files,
photos and calendar sections of the group. Please be discreet. I shall remove any offensive material.
Kindly add to any of the relevant tables in the database. Please upload files that you think will be useful
for the members in the group. Kindly check for, and abstain from adding too large, or virus loaded files.
Please upload any photographs of yours that you would wish to share with us (This shall be subject to
scrutiny though..flimsy bikinis and flashy pets are fine...but I still insist on cross checking! :)).
Also, please upload any important deadlines that you think might benefit the group. It is also not a bad
idea to put up your birth date, test date etc on the calendar. This is a group full of fun loving people and we
would like to share your joy!

3. Unfortunately, our group does not have the rights to use the polls section. I don't know how that came into
existence. Kindly bear with me. We shall use free tools available on the internet for the same.

4. Please try to visit my home page http://www.geocities.com/yamanoor to take advantage of the resources
linked, that shall help you in your entire application process.

5. Also kindly note, I strongly discourage any personal messages or communications across the group. I
will be moderating without exception, any messages that are either low in utility, or are sensitive,
racial, or disapprovable in any manner.

6. It is my earnest request that you tell more friends about the group so that we can help serve a larger group
of interested people. Also, if you have web pages, kindly consider using the promotion tools to make the
process of subscribing easier for your visitors.

7. Do mail in more suggestions as and when you wish and think it is necessary. Every word is listened to.

8. A final note, as you see, the group's objective is to not only help and provide suggestions, it is also to
dispel all sorts of rumors about the process that keep cropping up now and then. So, it is upto you to ask as
many questions as you can.

Thanks for being a part of the movement.

Good Luck

Srihari

Re: (GRE Success! ) plz solve this

Hi,

I got your result too, it's an Algebra question not Calculus:

x = 2+21/3+22/3 , y = x3-6x2+6x

(x-2)3 = x3-6x2+12x-8 then y = (x-2)3-6x+8

(x-2)3=(21/3+22/3]3 = (21/3)3*(1+21/3)3

                                             = 2*(1+3*21/3+3*22/3+2)

                                             = 6+6*21/3+6*22/3

-6x + 8 = -12-6*21/3-6*22/3 + 8

then y = 2

good luck

(GRE Success! ) [Admin] A little motivation...

Hello Members,

Our friendly gre_victim is not the only person in need of motivation. All of us are. We all get worked up unnecessarily at times and let the situation go out of hand and bring us down. I have noticed this to be a common problem, and I have decided we are going to have a separate motivation section in our group, where I will upload files that you can read and enjoy, and use as tools to keep the spirit upbeat, all day everyday. However, since we already have a whole lot of email activity, I will be uploading these files to the section, and will not send updates, except monthly, so that the main purpose is not defeated. Hopefully this will help, and it will be nice, if time to time, you can give feedback on how we can do things better.

Good Luck,

Srihari

Re: (GRE Success! ) in a pathetic state---plz reply

Sometimes in a rush, we all get a bit worried. In your case, you have unfortunately blown things out of proportion. Things are not that bad as they look now. My first suggestion is you take a long walk and re - examine the situation. There is nothing wrong with a few months spent looking at different options. No one is going to deny you a job because of that.

Also, you will be cool if you give yourself enough time to prepare for GRE and do your work.

I am not going to write large, extensive replies until you perk up to reality and see that things are definitely far far away from being as bad as they look to you now.

What you need urgently is to realize that the world is a cool place with many opportunities, which yes, are time sensitive, but not at the levels at which you think they are.

Does this sound good? You need a large dosage of positive attitude. Once you have cooled down, get in touch with us again. Then we can grab all your career goals and issues by the proverbial horns and see that you are smiling through your efforts.

Good Luck,

Srihari
