VM Ware

Hello all – We are in the process of integrating our library servers with the main university IT servers.  The university IT department is interested in putting ezproxy on server using VM Ware.  Has anyone experimented with this?  Will this noticeably slow response time?

RE: VM Ware

I currently have a demo box using ezproxy for linux under a vmware virtual machine here.  It works fine.   I can't tell any difference at this point.

Thanks!

RE: VM Ware

Way back when.... I piloted Ezproxy on a P-II 400Mhz machine with only 128MB memory.
We threw a test bed of 200 machines against it a it hardly blipped.  Running under a VM should be no trouble.

Re: VM Ware

EZproxy is fully supported for use on VMware. I have been using VMware
for over 5 years and have always been extremely impressed with it.

We run EZProxy on Win Server 2003 & VM Ware, and have not had any issues at all.

eCollege

I am having some discussions with eCollege regarding integration
possibilities with EZproxy. It would help me to know which institutions
are already using eCollege or may be considering using eCollege, and if
you use eCollege now, how you are handling user authentication.

Please respond to me off-list. If people are interested in the results, I
can summarize back to the list.

Film Media Group

All,

Have any of you tried to use ezproxy to allow access to the Films Media
Group? The login page that they provide is at
http://www.fmgondemand.com/. Is this an example of streaming content
that cannot be proxied through ezproxy.

I would not suggest attempting to stream this through EZproxy. I would be
happy to work with any site to work with the Films Media Group to evaluate
options to use EZproxy to authenticate to the service but not actually
proxy it. Joshua, if you'd like to pursue this or someone else would have
interest, please let me know.

Please IGNORE 3

Attention: All ls.suny.edu listserv list subscribers

This email is going out to all ls.suny.edu listserv subscribers to announce
an eminent upgrade to the Lyris ListManager listserv (going from 7.0d to
8.95).

We will also be sending out test emails to a number of the lists later
today. This is to test the new Oracle backend which is replacing the
PostGres database in the current production server. The subject headings
will state "Please ignore".

The changeover is scheduled to happen this weekend or later the next week.
In preparation for that we advise you from Friday on
1.	to make sure you cc yourself on all messages you send to your
subscribed lists.
2.	Keep a list of all list members by sending this command to
lyris <at> ls.suny.edu: review [listnames] ( i.e., review coa-l)
3.	If you find you have a problem, contact your list admin. If you do
not know your list admin
and you have questions, please email scacad <at> itec.suny.edu and we will gladly
help you.

Thank you for your understanding and patience with this effort.
