RE: RE:proxy configuration for Longwoods Publishing

Proxy-by-port is probably the difference. We do ProxyByHostname and, even if we proxy google.com (when I look at the source code, all links to Google.com are rewritten), the search results are not rewritten and the proxy drops when we click on one.

Rebecca,

I tried a search within Longwoods while proxied in and it did not drop the proxy; I was able to successfully search terms and then link into the fulltext of several without losing proxy.  I tried this in Canadian Journal of Nursing Leadership (or, because they can't seem to decide what to call themselves...... just "Nursing Leadership"!)

We are using proxy-by-port rather than proxy-by-hostname, if that makes any difference (wouldn't think so, but you never know).

And no, we do not have Google in our proxy list.

I tried your form and our form of the URL with the same result.

Would you verify a Search does not drop out of proxy for you?

Do you have google.com proxied and if so could you share what you use for that?

I have been reluctant to proxy google.com with the exception of our 2 line Google Scholar which we’ve had for numerous years – an easy method to get our patrons to  our institution’s Google Scholar door.

Re: limit concurrent sessions

Hi Frederica,

I understand from your first message that you want to limit the access to limited databases for oncampus users. Can't you use Autologin and have a Group reserved for these users (oncampus) and these resources (databases) ?

Bruno Ménette.

Hi Ian
at the beginning we had also thought the same thing  and we had asked
the vendor to split in two the contract, but in fact it is an
unnecessary complication.
I was wondering if there was a way to handle the problem in a technical
way using the proxy.  I would only that access off-campus did not use
more than X sessions: EZproxy is not able to count and filter them by
number?

the vendor to split in two the contract, but in fact it is an
unnecessary complication.
I was wondering if there was a way to handle the problem in a technical
way using the proxy. I would only that access off-campus did not use
more than X sessions: EZproxy is not able to count and filter them by
number?

RE: limit concurrent sessions

I think you would need to have 2 contracts with the vendor, one for the ezproxy ip address with x number of
seats and another for your inside Ip addresses with y number, the two adding up to the current number you
have in all right now.

Subject: [ezproxy] limit concurrent sessions

Hi all,
we would like to configure Ezpoxy in order to limit the number of concurrent sessions for a given resource.
Some databases are bought with a number of concurrent accesses, and we would like some of them were reserved
for the on-campus access.
In other words: is it possible to measure concurrent sessions and set a block beyond a certain threshold?

Thanks
Federica
