Mailing list links

I recently referred someone to the CIS web site as a source of info 
about CIS. Their response?

"All very well but how do I talk with these people?"

It appears that there is no link to the mailing list on the site.

Similarly there is no link from the mailing list (posts) to the web site.

I still see nothing on the site, is it hidden somewhere? Perhaps best to 
put it on the home page.

Look I have write privs to the CVS version of the site, shall I just fix it?

There is also a tool in Burrokeet that enables the website to be 
published automatically on a periodic basis. Shall we look into using 
it? The risks are if there is an error in CVS it will get published (and 
possibly not noticed)

until anil shows me how later this week, maintaining the website is done on
his time.  you can make the changes in the CVS version and send it to anil
to upload.

the site is due to be redone in a couple weeks.  i want to complete that
before nov is done.  i plan to use as much of burrokeet's tools as possible.

Correction, Anil is authorised to work on CIS on Burrokeet time since 
you are a different use case for our project. Anil, please make this 
stuff a priority within Burrokeet (but CIS please be patient, sometimes 
he has other commitments, as is the case this week).

Anil, is it OK with you if I make changes direct to CVS?

Ross,

To avoid anyone from jumping to conclusions, or making assumptions or even
taking things for granted, please state what it is you mean by having the
Burrokeet Project as a member project of the CIS.  In other words, what can
CIS expect of the burrokeet and what would the burrokeet expect from the
CIS?  Is there any distiction between asking something of the Burrokeet
project and independantly asking its developers/members?

The last question is especially important because as is, Anil is a member of
the CIS, and has been before he started working on the burrokeet project. 
To my knowledge he has not removed himself from the CIS.  As we are using
his webserver, he is currently the only person responsible for maintaining
the CIS website (until i am trained to use the burrokeet this week or the
next) and as such, i have asked him to make some changes to it when he can. 
On whose time this is done is not my concern as, after all, the CIS is a
volunteer effort, right?

I believe this was answered when I originally proposed Burrokeet as a 
member of CIS. However, I will answer it again without looking in the 
archives, I hope I give the same answer ;-)

What can CIS expect of Burrokeet?
---------------------------------

CIS can expect Burrokeet to contribute to the development of CIS in the 
same way that any other member will. For example, CIS can expect 
Burrokeet to listen to your needs and consider them when working on the 
Burrokeet product. This does not mean that we will develop Burrokeet in 
the direction CIS needs, but we will endeavor to do so when there are no 
conflicts between the needs of CIS and Burrokeet itself.

What can Burrokeet expect from CIS?
-----------------------------------

Burrokeet can expect to have input into the further development of 
Burrokeet as a result of a two way dialog.

thank you ross.  even though there are archives, i feel that sometimes it is
necessary that certain things be repeated.  although i won't take it out of
proportion, i think the need to repeat certain things exists, especially
since the dgroup membership is growing and will include persons not too
familiar with our history, etc.  of course, this does not mean that i'm
going to ask you about burrokeet like this every two weeks.  i did have to
ask you this time because of how you had worded the email.

you described the CIS Project as a "non-entity" and "irrelevant" and i agree
with you, but only if it's in the context that it is not a legal entity.

formalising the CIS is not a responsibility i can take on right now, at
least not until my post-graduate studies are completed.  this should be some
time next year.  however, if anyone wants to take the lead role to take us
in that direction then please come forward.
