Springer book collection

Hello I am in the process of putting together a book collection for Springer. I am using their svmult class file. I have a file structure with the main in a folder and at the same level folders for all other chapters. Each chapter has its own .bib file and intend to use BibTeX to generated bibliography: one list per chapter. I am using MikTeX 2.8 on Windows 7 OS. This is not the first time that I put together a Springer collection and last time it worked fine, even with a messy combination of bibitem lists and .bib files. Then I used an earlier version of MikTeX. This time it does not seem to work. What happens is that citations are not found in the database. I also use tags, to identify each label differently for each chapert, such as CH1:ref2 and CH2:ref3 and so on; same for all labels in all chapters. Last night I started looking into the use of multibib style file... but I have noticed it indicates I must bibtex each aux file separately. If this is the only solution, how can I create a macro to do so in WindEdt? By the way, I also tried with TeXNic and I am having the same problem, so I suspect it is either a problem with MikTeX or with the Springer class file?! thanks Paolo

Activating Popup Menus

Hi,
In WinEdt 5.5, I used pop-up menus such as sections, greek, insert
font and a few other personal pop-ups.
After reading the manual, I am still totally unable to understand how
theses menus, which appear in PopupMenus.ini, are activated in WinEdt6.
E.g., I take the following extract from PopupMenus.ini:
MENU="Sections"
CAPTION="Sections"
ITEM="$Delete"
CAPTION="&Delete"
MACRO="SubLabel('\','{','}');"
SHORTCUT="32836::Alt+D"
REQ_DOCUMENT=1
ITEM="$\part{^}"
CAPTION="\par&t{^}"
MACRO="Exe('%b\Macros\Sections\Part.edt');"
SHORTCUT="32852::Alt+T"
REQ_DOCUMENT=1
ITEM="$\chapter{^}"
CAPTION="\&chapter{^}"
MACRO="Exe('%b\Macros\Sections\Chapter.edt');"
SHORTCUT="32835::Alt+C"
REQ_DOCUMENT=1
When I type Alt+C, nothing happens, which means for me that the Popup menu "Sections" is not activated. In WinEdt 5.5, I just had to type Ctrl+Alt+S, then C and everything was OK.
I noticed the SelectedPopup menu IS activated, but on reading the details in PopupMenus.ini, I don't see any difference (as to activation) between the SelectedPopup and Sections menus.
Could you explain how I have to proceed now?
Thank you very much in advance
B. Alfonsi

I use Symantec antivirus and I'll try to disable scanning of .tex files to see if there is any improvement. Anyway: 1) I have the problem ONLY with Winedt 6 2) I do not always have this problem, but I cannot understand why 3) The problem is significant 4) I didn't think it was related with the antivirus Thanks, M.

In Options Interface open the File Status Detection. There you will find a few options (and plenty of comments) that can trigger such behavior. Change the options and see if this makes any difference (don't forget to reload the modifications)! DETECT_FILE_STATUS_ON_TIMER=0 TIMER_INTERVAL=333 // sec/1000 DETECT_EXTERNAL_MODIFICATIONS=0 FAST_DEVICES="C;D;E;F;G;H" IGNORE_REQUIRED_FILES_MENU_ATTRIBUTE=1 SLOW_DEVICES="" If this makes a difference you can further experiment by enabling options but list problematic devices as exceptions. Read the comments in the file for explanations. Let us know. Best regards, alex

In the Main Menu you must add or assign a shortcut to an item in
the Invisible Menu Popups. This item will then activate the popup
menu (either by displaying it or for a double-shortcut). By default
Alt+G should activate Greek popup because the item is defined in
the Main menu:
ITEM="$Greek"
CAPTION="Greek"
MACRO="Popup('Greek');"
SHORTCUT="32839::Alt+G"
REQ_DOCUMENT=1
Help on the macro Popup(...) explains how to use this macro. In
WinEdt 5 it was possible to assign a shortcut directly to a Popup
Menu but switching to Popup macro was on my to-do-list. Other than
this the functionality of popup menus did not change...

alex

I tested this on Win7 with and without elevated privileges and I
could not reproduce any problems. I have no idea what could be
wrong...
Furthermore, I don't need elevated privileges to perform MiKTeX
Update: I get prompted on spot to elevate privileges by MiKTeX's
updater.
Perhaps the problem is that the Roaming Directory cannot be used as
a working directory. Try just something like:
Run("%b\Plugins\New\New.exe");
Since you can start it by double-clicking this may very well be a
problem.

Nothing is changed. I am using > winedt 6 on windows 7 64 bit. Any help is appreciated very much. If nothing has changed then you did not Load the modified Settings. Read the help section on how to use Options Interface. Many users fail to notice the following: IMPORTANT: After you make changes to a particular script you should use the Load Command (the first button in the Option Interface Toolbar) to make the changes effective immediately. It is not necessary to restart WinEdt. In fact, no scripts are loaded at startup: the compiled raw data is stored in WinEdt.dnt (Do Not Touch). This reduces the startup time and reduces the likelihood of error messages during startup. Best regards, alex
