bibMacros 2.1 not finding .bib files after WinEdt5.6 upgrade [Re: bibMacros 2.1 not finding .bib files after WinEdt5.5 upgrade]

without starting a new thread? >

Hi everybody!
I think that I have a very similar (but not exactly the same?) problem
In WinEdt 5.6 (Build 20080429) with the bibMacros 2.1 macro (
http://www.winedt.org/Config/menus/BibTeX.php ).

I installed it as instructed and with the option to have the FindEntry
as response to the ‘\cite...’ Active Strings.

Then, when I type ‘\cite{}’, I get a warning message of the type

I didn't find the file "<filename>.bib"!
** It is not in the current directory.
** It is not in the WinEdt's Tree.
--> Did you update the tree?
** It is not in the TeXMF trees

Can you tell me where the bibliography field is?

My .bib-files are in the directory
C:\NiklasLibraries\LaTeX\BibTeX\Databases,

they are included with a \bibliography{filename_1,filename_2, ...,
filename_n} command (without any full paths, just filenames without
exetensions).

Mailing List Guidelines

      WinEdt Mailing List Guidelines
      ==============================

These guidelines are sent to the WinEdt Mailing List once a month.
Please keep them in mind when posting to the list.

   ---------------------------------------------------------------------

* What To Post

The WinEdt Mailing List is for questions about the WinEdt editor. You
should not post questions concerning LaTeX, MiKTeX, BibTeX et al. to
the mailing list. WinEdt is a shell/editor for LaTeX etc. and the
list is intended to answer questions concerning WinEdt, not LaTeX
   etc.
(Sometimes it might be difficult to decide whether a problem is
related to WinEdt or to MiKTeX, LaTeX etc. A rule of thumb is: If you
are having the same problems when running the program from the
command line, it is NOT related to WinEdt.)

A lot of questions are being asked over and over again. Check that
your question isn't already answered in the WinEdt FAQ at
      <http://www.winedt.org/Doc/FAQ>
or in the mailing list archives at
      <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WinEdt>.

When sending a question to the mailing list, try to be specific.
   Include (at least)
+ the Build number of your WinEdt (see "Help | About WinEdt...")

Hm. Are the bibliography files included in the Tree, and show the
correct path? To begin the diagnosis, select Macros | Define and Run
Macro..., and run the following:

GetTree(0);CopyToClipboard("%!0");

and paste the result into your answer.

quick compilation

I'm pretty new to WinEdt and I was using Texmaker before as it had a
command
called Quickbuild where you could ask a compilation with set of commands
following each other like LaTeX, BibTeX, LaTeX, dvips, ps2pdf etc. Such a
tool of course is a big time saver. Then a single mouse click would perform
all the operations asked in a row. Is there a way to do this in WinEdt
also? I think
macros should be used, but could you please give me an example?

Thanks a lot.

Best Regards,

Y.Calleecharan

alternative PDF viewer

Dear subscribers,

I'm not so expert with WinEdt management, hence I would know whether
and where I can find some settings inside to let PDF be opened through
another PDF viewer which is not forcingly Acrobat.

Hola Alessandro

El pdf reader puede ser cambiado en el menú "Options"-->"Executions Mode".
En la etiqueta "Acrobat" coloca la dirección y parámetros correspondientes
a tu pdf reader.

Saludos.

(now in english, i hope)
Pdf reader can be changed in Options menu, Executions Mode comamnd. The
tab Acrobat let you set parameters about your pdf reader.

Cheers.

Saludos.

Re: quick compilation

Yes, you may use the TeXify and PDFTeXify commands (in the menu Accessories, and in the Toolbar). [This is for WinEdt 5.5; I don't know if in 5.6b1 there are some changes in this respect...]

Re: quick compilation

Hi,
Yes both TeXify and PDFTeXify work fine. I tried in WinEdt 5.6.
BibTeX is called in the process too so that TeXify and PDFTeXify are
really big time savers! Though not sure, I think that one can adjust the
"Max Custom [PDF]TeXiFy Iterations" to other values if one doesn't get
the proper output with all labels properly referenced. The default value
is 3 and it seems to work fine on a document which I tried.

Thanks again.

Best Regards,
Y.Calleecharan

Multiple dictionaries

Hello all,

at the moment I'm struggling with modes and submodes for using multiple
dictionaries - and the more I read the more I get the feeling that I do
not see the wood for the trees ...

Most of the documents I have to deal with use either the German or
English language. Therefor I add a comment line to the documents as
described in the "Modes and submodes" description like:
    % -*- TeX -*- -*- DE -*- -*- Soft -*-
or
    % -*- TeX -*- -*- UK -*- -*- Soft -*-

With the basic dictionary "Deutsch neu" in "%b\Dict\de-neu\de_neu.dic",
submode "*|UK". The English dictionaries are specified with submode
"UK".

This works fine - in general. But I now have a document with some 60%
German and 40% English. With the mode describing comment line I get
large parts of the document highlighted red. So, I have tried to enable
the German AND the English spell checking without modifying my standard
settings (as appended at the end of the mail) by something like
    % -*- TeX -*- -*- DE:UK -*- -*- Soft -*-
in various combinations, but I failed in total. Whatever I do, I get
either the English or the German spell checking.

When I delete the submode specifier "*|UK" for the standard dictionary I
get the German and the English spell checking as I need for this
document - but also for those "only UK" documents:
    % -*- TeX -*- -*- UK -*- -*- Soft -*-

So, the question is, what are appropriate settings for WinEdt to use the
German or the English spell checking, and how can I deal with that one
document (for which I need both) without manipulating the standard
settings.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,
Ralf
