WinEdT and TtH

Hello,
can someone help me with TtH under WinEdT? Under Build: 20050701 (v. 5.4)
I have a menu item for TtH (Accessories->HTML). I downloaded tth_exe.zip
but now I really don't know where I have to put the files so to be able to
call TtH with a document open in WinEdT.
Thank you,
Paolo Cavallo

Mailing List Guidelines

      WinEdt Mailing List Guidelines
      ==============================

   These guidelines are sent to the WinEdt Mailing List once a month.
   Please keep them in mind when posting to the list.

   ---------------------------------------------------------------------

* What To Post

   The WinEdt Mailing List is for questions about the WinEdt editor. You
   should not post questions concerning LaTeX, MiKTeX, BibTeX et al. to
   the mailing list. WinEdt is a shell/editor for LaTeX etc. and the
   list is intended to answer questions concerning WinEdt, not LaTeX
   etc.
   (Sometimes it might be difficult to decide whether a problem is
   related to WinEdt or to MiKTeX, LaTeX etc. A rule of thumb is: If you
   are having the same problems when running the program from the
   command line, it is NOT related to WinEdt.)

   A lot of questions are being asked over and over again. Check that
   your question isn't already answered in the WinEdt FAQ at
      <http://www.winedt.org/Doc/FAQ>
   or in the mailing list archives at
      <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WinEdt>.

   When sending a question to the mailing list, try to be specific.
   Include (at least)
     + the Build number of your WinEdt (see "Help | About WinEdt...")

Install it anywhere on your PATH. PATH can be adjusted through
the Windows Control Panel. If you don't know how to adjust the
PATH then install TtH in WinEdt's Install Folder or MiKTeX's
Bin Folder (they are already on the PATH)....

You can't and neither can the rest of us. The good people at Adobe
made sure that DDE Close and Open functionality no longer works in
Adobe 8 (Adobe crashes).

You can read the numerous explanations and partial solutions to
this in the archives of this mailing list and perhaps manually fix
your macros. If that is too much, WinEdt 5.5 has a macro that does
just about anything that can be done to fix the problem
(considering limited abilities of Adobe 8)... It works but you'd
better only have 1 doc opened in Adobe 8 or else things don't work
smoothly.

alex

ANN: WinEdt 5 [Build 20070501 (v. 5.5)]

A new Build of WinEdt 5.5 [20070501] is now available. It has been
extensively tested on Vista and (the program now) works without
any glitches.

Best regards,

alex

WinEdt 5 [Build 20070501 (v. 5.5)]
==================================

- Under VISTA WinEdt sometimes "refuses" to start. This happens
because of a Hint Window previously displayed in the Windows
Taskbar when the mouse was positioned over WinEdt. WinEdt mistook
this Window for its running instance. The problem is now fixed...

- This build has been extensively tested with MiKTeX 2.6 under
Vista. It works well and I did not have to make any manual changes
in the Execution Modes Dialog: WinEdt correctly detected all
software. It is, however, important that you install all software
with Administrative account (especially on Vista). Otherwise you
will likely experience a lot of problems because of the new
security features in the OS... You can later use it as a
restricted user (as long as you enabled the profile creation - a
default setting in WinEdt's Installation Wizard).

- Options -> Appearance Dialog now contains new options whether to
use Cool Bar in WinEdt's Toolbar and GUI Control. Depending on
your version of Windows and enabled themes, the Cool Bars may be
aesthetically pleasing (or annoying to some users). However, they

When can we expect the TexLive 2007 integration? Currently, Miktex is
almost not usable due to its massive performance problems.
Texlive 2007, in contrast, compiles Latex more than twice as fast as the
Miktex implementation does.
BTW: TeXLive can be downloaded from tug (http://www.tug.org/texlive/acquire.html), so there's no need
to wait for the DVD :-)

I'd love to know what those are - I routinely compiles 450-650 page
books - with lots of embedded .eps figures, using MikTeX 2.5, in <60
seconds on a middle-of-the-road 3.0 GHz machine with 1.5 Gb RAM.

Individual chapters compile in <10 seconds (which average 30-45 pages).
Do you really need more speed than that?

ps2pdf Problem in WinEdt

Hello,

I am having this problem when clicking on ps2pdf (top of WinEdt) and I have this message popping up.

"ps2pdf returned nonzero Exit Code (1) indicating that some problems might have occured during the compilation ..."

After clicking OK another message comes up

"ps2pdf failed to create a pdf file.
For possible explanations start the command from the Command Prompt"

After clicking OK the Run.log opens up and the following appears.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Errors were reported during the execution of ps2pdf.
*** WinEdt captured the following error file:
Can't load Ghostscript DLL
Wrong version of DLL found.
  Found version 815
  Need version  813
*** External application did not produce any console output!
~~~~~~~~~~~

But if I run ps2pdf on the command prompt (DOS) I don't have any problem and it runs smoothly.

Any help from anyone is very much appreciated.

This has hardly anything to do with WinEdt... As the log file
tells you you have a problem with Ghostscript installation (two
versions, improperly installed, or even some bug in your version
of gs but nothing concerning WinEdt here)...

> Now, when I run ps2pdf on the command prompt (DOS) I don't have

You did not execute the same executable from the command prompt
(oranges and apples:-)

It just so happens that recent versions of MiKTeX come with a its
own version of Ghostscript including a crippled interface called
ps2pdf.exe in MiKTeX's Bin Folder. For a few (basic) users this
version might be OK (it appears to do what you want it to do) but
it is lacking a full set of switches and options that proper GS
provides. That's why WinEdt by default calls gswin32c.exe (proper
GS) rather than this basic interface included in MiKTeX...

WinEdt's Help (in Execution Modes) even elaborates on different
converters when it comes to ps2pdf...

> Any help from you is very much appreciated.

Options -> Execution Modes. Select ps2pdf and enter whatever works
for you. For example:

 Executable: ps2pdf.exe
 switches:   <empty>
 Parameters: "%N.ps"

Or else properly install your own version of GS...

alex

Any references for the above mentioned problems or it's only based on
your own experience?

I doubt, although I have never seen such a benchmark. It could be easy
to accomplish, again... (sorry my insistence) do you have any serious
references?

You can also download MiKTeX DVD from BT:
