WinEdt 5.5 and remotedesktop

Dear Axel,

a few months ago I wrote you about the "saving problem" on remote desktops, i.e. that the mouse remains in the
hourglass form once the Save-Button is pressed when using WinEdt on a remote desktop. Seeing as you seem to
be close to releasing 5.5 I wanted to ask whether you have managed to solve this minor bug. As far as I
remember, other users had exactly the same behavior.

Best regards

Rüdiger

Mailing List Guidelines

      WinEdt Mailing List Guidelines
      ==============================

These guidelines are sent to the WinEdt Mailing List once a month.
Please keep them in mind when posting to the list.

   ---------------------------------------------------------------------

* What To Post

The WinEdt Mailing List is for questions about the WinEdt editor. You
should not post questions concerning LaTeX, MiKTeX, BibTeX et al. to
the mailing list. WinEdt is a shell/editor for LaTeX etc. and the
list is intended to answer questions concerning WinEdt, not LaTeX
   etc.
(Sometimes it might be difficult to decide whether a problem is
related to WinEdt or to MiKTeX, LaTeX etc. A rule of thumb is: If you
are having the same problems when running the program from the
command line, it is NOT related to WinEdt.)

A lot of questions are being asked over and over again. Check that
your question isn't already answered in the WinEdt FAQ at
      <http://www.winedt.org/Doc/FAQ>
or in the mailing list archives at
      <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WinEdt>.

When sending a question to the mailing list, try to be specific.
   Include (at least)
+ the Build number of your WinEdt (see "Help | About WinEdt...")

Ah, I should really start consulting the docs first ...

Thanks for fixing this, and all the other changes.

Yap is slow now

Hola all

I upgrade to winedt 5.5 recently, but now i "feel" yap slow. It show the
page more slowly that before, and the magnifiying glass tool to delay many
time. Is there a configuration to do?

Thank in advance.

Re: Yap is slow now

I suspect that this issue is not related to WinEdt at all but to your
default render method in Yap! View | Options... | Display menu. Dvips
is less error prone but it is slower than Pk fonts. Give Pk fonts
method a try, if it works fine for you then you will see a great speed
improvement in the magnifying glass tool and page rendering as a
whole.

Regards,

Bernhard.

Yap to request new file name

Hi all

Wiht the upgrade to 5.5 I note something in my distribution: If the
windows (and document in) Yap is open when I run Texify, it say: !I can´t
write on file "document´s name". Please type another file name for output:

Any way, i don´t write any name, and Yap modify the file. But the message
is nasty.

How to avoid this message?

thank a lot in advance.

Atentamente,

Prof. Evaristo Arroyo F.

Re: Yap to request new file name

Again it's related to MiKTeX (Yap! specifically), not to WinEdt.
Better ask at MiKTeX-Users List :-)

https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/miktex-users

To post a message to all the list members, send email to miktex-users
at lists.sourceforge.net.

Good luck,

Bernhard.

error is dvips??

I am resending this, as my original email appears not to have gone through.

There appears to be an error in the dvips of WinEdt. I regularly use
Beamer and pstricks for presentations and handouts, so I latex > dvips >
pspdf. When I upgraded to the latest build (20070323), all of a sudden
the final pdf image occupied the lower left hand corner of the page not
the whole page, and there was incorrect orientation: portrait instead of
landscape. However, when I use the command line, I get the correct pdf
size.

I had attached pdf to show both, but it appears they will be stripped:
so I hope my explanation is meaningful; a picture would have told the
whole story.

As far as WinEdt is concerned the picture is quite irrelevant:
we'll take your word on it.

However, I would have to know:

1. What exactly do you type in the command prompt (the sequence
of commands -- we may be talking oranges and apples)?

2. Start Options -> Execution Modes and check the definitions
of dvi2ps and ps2pdf (pay attention to the names of executables
and any switches). Are they the same as your command line
sequence?
