Printer design tools

Not sure if this is the proper list to post this question but, does anyone know if IBM has a printer design tool
that recognizes the advance DDS keywords like BOX, LINE, FONT, OVERLAY, etc? Code Designer doesn't
recognize them, and in fact gives an error if you attempt to open a printer file containing any of these
keywords. It makes it kind of hard to design a printer file with these keywords if you can't see where the
overlay is going to be on the page until you run the program that uses the printer file.

Re: Printer design tools

These types of keywords allow variable parameters that drastically change
the look of the output, so I should think it would be difficult to find a
tool that would do this, since the variable values are undetermined until
runtime.

I'm with Darren on this one....

But I will mention IBM's Infoprint Designer which is the top-of-the
line tool for designing overlays ect.

Re: RDi 7.5 Fixpack 3 (7.5.0.3) is now available

Ok, despite the lockup, it looks like the installation completed.

Eric, I love the better inclusion of subfields in the outline. We read into data structures a lot, and
previously I couldn't ctl-space on those data structures to get field lists for some reason, and now I do.

One thing I was hoping to see but didn't, is the outline to show the lines using *key data structures (as the
outline does for KLists).

Thanks a lot,

Re: RDi 7.5 Fixpack 3 (7.5.0.3) is now available

I ran the install (I was fully updated, on RDi Trial), and it won't complete. The status is: "Complete for
eclipse" There's a good two inches on the progress bar left white, and it hasn't moved in 5 minutes. I tried
to cancel, nothing happened. Clicked X, nothing happened.

Hopefully no one else runs into this.

Re: RDi 7.5 Fixpack 3 (7.5.0.3) is now available

Nothing to worry about. I think IBM changed Installation Manager to
launch eclipse so that all the new components can register themselves.
This used to happen the first time you launched the product after
installing updates. This can be a lengthy process for really big
installations.

FWIW: I did notice that RDI took much longer to launch after the update ... but it seems to be working fine
after it did launch.

Re: RDi 7.5 Fixpack 3 (7.5.0.3) is now available

FYI -- After updating I am seeing errors:

1) When I open a source member I see this: 'An error has occurred when
activating this view: java.lang.NullPointerException'. Not every source
member though. And some that do not show it on the open of the member
show the same error when I close the member.

2) When the error is thrown on member open, the refresh outline function
will also fail for that member. It is a very detailed error message
that just says 'Error'.

I will see if I can isolate the problem...

Re: RDi 7.5 Fixpack 3 (7.5.0.3) is now available

Ok -- first step I took was to clear my cache and reset my perspectives.
Neither helped. Step two was to make a copy of a member that has an
error every time, and start deleting procedures to see if I could
isolate some bit of code that was making Rdi unhappy.

This actually caused the member to not open at all, with an error 'Could
not open the editor. An exception was thrown during initialization.'

This time there is a lot more detail:
