Re: User options question

<Hi, all

I was just thinking of how user options work in PDM. One of the things you
can do is add parameters on the command line that are applied to each use of
the option - multiple selections. I.e., a single entry of additional
parameters to be applied to multiple evocations of a command. This is also
one of the things in many green screens that is very useful - OUTQ(name)
when entering '2' on multiple spooled files in WRKSPLF is a classic example.

Is this now or going to be available in RSE? That's one of the things that
is a tremendous timesaver in PDM.

You can achieve this effect in WDSc, but (as far as I know) not without
doing some of the work yourself.

When defining a user action, check both "Prompt first" and "Invoke once".
If you check "Invoke once", WDSc will create a temporary source file member
that has a record for each selected resource. You can use the &MF, &ML and
&MM variables in your command to indentify the file, library and member that
is created when your action is run.

For example, YOURCMD FILE(&ML/&MF) MBR(&MM)

Your command processing program then is responsible for retrieving the
actual selections from the source member, which you would have to experiment
with. For example, if your action is a member action, the selections will

I know this forum is for WDSCi but I am having a problem with WSAD and
hope the IBMers that watch this forum could help.

I install WSAD 5.0 from the Toolbox download. I add a fix and ptfs to
take it to 5.0.0.2 and my struts 'New Project' works fine, adding in the
struts.jar and the tag libs etc... all is well.

If I then update to 5.0.1 using either the download of the update OR,
allow the update via the Help option, (I have tried both fresh install
and install with 5.0.0.2 applied), when I create a new Web Project with
Struts support I get the resources bundle and NO Struts.jar and taglibs.

I used a cd that Pat Fruth gave me with the patches on it. I tried it 3
times and threw the cd away... then I did the
Help> Software Updates> New Updates and got the same error.

I deleted the WebSphere Studio directory in between uninstall and
install.

I am tearing my hair out... is this a know bug, and do you have a fix?

I also have WDSCi with 5.0.1 applied and the struts project creation
works fine. It is on a different computer.

Thanks

Kristen Henry

This is only a "semi-answer" but there is nothing special or magical about
what IBM does. You can just download the Struts distribution and add the
JAR's and TLD's yourself. IBM will still recognize it as a Struts project
and provide the tooling.

If you are using Struts 1.1, you should do this anyway, since it has gone
GA, and IBM still only includes the Beta version.

Yes, I know, but I am teaching some 'newbies'...

I like for the tool to assemble it (less overwhelming for them) and then
I go thru the components and pieces and teach them how they fit
together.

When I have them construct the environment, their eyes start rolling
back in their head... lol

Thanks,

Kristen

Another good way is to just take the struts-blank.war file from the Struts
distribution and import it to create a project.

WebFacing: No java generated for 1 of 12 dspf

I have a project which has 12 DSPF. Conversion was ok, I could install it
on the webserver but one of the DSPF's isn't working.
1) I have checked both
\source\lib\qddssrc\dspf
\webApplication\WEB_INF\classes\lib\qddssrc\dspf
and see that there no objects generated????
all other DSPF has java objects in it.
2) The DSPF conversionlog shows failing dspf and tells me the conversion
was ok. It shows all recordformats converted with only 2 minor messages
- keyword putovr is not yet supported for conversion
- keyword WDWBORDER is not yet supported for conversion
on 1 of the recordformats.
3) In WebFacing perspective, navigator view, projectname, dds the failing
dspf is there + all names of recordformats but no java_source not jsp's

any idea what is going wrong?
no problem to load the source into code400/CodeDesigner (from within WF).
This failing displayfile is one which replaced another. The original
converted ok.
Already tried to re_create complete project with another name, same
problem.
Version WSAD: 4.0.3 build 20301
Version Websphere Studio Workbench: 1.0 build 0.137
Version WebFacing : 4.0.3

When I run app in webserver, I receive following error:
      Clipper Transport System
           Application Error

PTF SI08205

I temporarily applied PTF SI08205 over the weekend. The cover letter states that a WDSC_501 folder would be
created in the IFS under qibm\ProdData\Devtools\service\base. I used iseries navigator but could not
find the folder. I mapped a network drive but still could not find the folder. Has anyone else encountered
this problem?

Downloads for RSE?

Are there any downloads (plugins?) available for WDSc, specifically the RSE/Eclipse editor for use on RPG
source? There was a download area for the CODE editor, that housed downloads (macros, etc.) from IBM and
others. So far I have not found anything similar for RSE.

Re: Downloads for RSE?

Doug,

I do not believe there are any official public areas that host plugins. We
offer a free plugin that provides access to spooled files from RSE.

http://www.softlanding.com/websphere/index.htm

This is a site which is kind of a master list of Eclipse plugins, however,
most of these will not have any iSeries-specific features.

http://eclipse-plugins.2y.net/eclipse/index.jsp

There have been a couple of articles in various magazines on extending the
editor to provide some RPG support, but I am not aware of anyone that has
packaged anything up for download. Here is the most recent one:
