[poedit-users] Poedit on MacOSX

Hi,

For few days, I tried to run Poedit on Mac OS X 10.4.8 to translate po files from english ro french
It doesn't run at all.
The soft open po files only without diacritic signes.
If  I begin to translate to french, I can't save the file.
If I try open a po file with some french word, a unicode error is returned.
What's the problem ? Any idea ?

Thanks

Wait, here you say it doesn't run at all...

> The soft open po files only without diacritic signes.

...and here you say that it in fact *does* run, but that it doesn't
open *some* files. So which one is it?

_You_ should tell us what the problem is. Please, describe *precisely*
what the problem is, in as much detail as possible, with example
file(s) and detailed instructions on how to reproduce it. See
http://www.poedit.org/support.php, too.

Could it be this bug:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1562780&group_id=27043&atid=389153
by a chance?

thanks,
Vaclav

This doesn't make sense in the gettext system.

Re: [poedit-users] merging po files

Bashir,

Check out the Translate Toolkit at http://translate.sourceforge.net/

They have a utility called pomerge which might help you. They have a
whole bunch of handy tools for PO files.

Also you might want to check out a tool I wrote for automatically
inserting phrases from another language into your PO file:
http://www.runasimipi.org/blanco.php?file=instrans

Cheers,

That's kind of hard to answer if you don't bother to show the file
that has the problem...

[poedit-users] Different number of escaped characters

Hello,

As I'm translating a string of date variables from English to Brazilian Portuguese, I have a different number of escaped characters between the source and the target strings, therefore PoEdit can't recompile the .mo file (invalid control sequence error). Is there a way to overcome this?

Source String: F jS, Y
Desired target string:  j \de F \de Y

Thanks
