[poedit-users] Eating all CPU

Hi!

I've a problem using poEdit 1.3.4 on Windows. When I load a larger po
file (around 1300 strings) it starts analyzing the strings. Somewhere in
the process poEdit starts eating all my CPU. It's so heavy that I even
can't get to the Task Manager to kill it. I have to kill Windows XP
completely.

It's not hanging on a specific string. It seems to be randomly.

Any ideas?

CU, Gunnar

Not that I have a solution - except maybe trying with a different version.

I am on poEdit 1.3.2 Windows XP Pro SP1 and do NOT see this problem with
.po files with over 1,400 strings.

Yes, I moved back to 1.3.2 yesterday and it's working much better now. I
also removed all registry entries to be sure to start with a clean
environment.

I had this behavior again. It always happen while poEdit is "checking
translation". Sometimes very soon (at ~1000) sometimes later (~650, ~300
or ~150).

But I found a workaround. I've downloaded the free VMWare player and a
free Ubuntu virtual machine. I'm using this to edit poFiles. Took mit 10
minutes to setup (excluding download time). :)

[poedit-users] poedit mailing lists subscribers only (somewhat) now

Hi,

I switched poedit mailing lists into subscriber-only mode in order to
cut down the volume of spam getting through (SF.net's spam filter
leaves much to be desired and this was causing random unsubscribes of
people with better filters). Contrary to the subject, this does _not_
mean that non-subscribers cannot post -- it only means that
subscribers' posts are delivered straight away while non-members'
mails are held for moderator's approval. I'll change it back if
there's strong opposition to it, but I hope it's OK, as the worst it
may cause is that some legitimate posts will be delayed by ~ one day.

Regards,
Vaclav

[poedit-users] seperate catalogs?

How can I seperate catalogs?

There is a source-file (scaned by poedit) with strings for two catalogs.
How can I say poedit that I want some of this strings in catalog A and
the others in catalog B?

This looks like misunderstanding the way gettext works to me. This
just doesn't make any sense with gettext.

I don't have this old system anymore, so you're on your own I'm
afraid. But poedit uses system functions for converting between
charsets and if us-ascii is not recognized, something is badly wrong
with it. Do you have IE installed?
