[poedit-users] UtF-8 and database error

I was having that ugly database error working with UTF-8 and special
characters

"Database error: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database
    recovery"

until I realized I also had to set Source Code Charset to UTF-8.

In case it helps others with the same issue.

Re: [poedit-users] Chinese translation UTF-8

The problem went away after I did a Windows Update.  Originally I was on Windows 2000 SP 1 and I did a Windows Update
to SP4 -- poEdit release 1.3.4 works fine now.  Thank you, Vaclav, for looking into the problem.

I am attaching a sample .po file.
...which does not show the problem. Can you really see it with the attached file (please verify it by opening the attachment, not using the original file)? Or send me the problematic file in ZIP archive.
The Details window flags every line of the file with this message: "Line [0] of file [test.po] is corrupted (not valid utf-8 data)."
It says exactly what's wrong with the file here... Regards, Vaclav

Works fine with updated wxGTK-2.6.2-3.fc5
And I can use poedit with my ru_RU.UTF-8 locale now :)

How is the Mac port coming along? :)

[poedit-users] poEdit / dxgettext problem

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed poEdit 1.3.4 on windows xp using the installer.

I have then set up the path to my source files, and opened a pre-existing po file.

If I select EDIT / Show References it all works fine, however when I try to Update Catalog / Syncronise with Sources, I get the following error :

Execution of command 'dxgettext --so "C:\DOCUME~1\Richard\LOCALS~1\Temp\poe2471.tmp"  failed (Error 2:
Cannot execute program: dxgettext
Entries in the catalog are probably incorrect.

I have obviously done something wrong, can anyone help, please

Richard

Not likely if you don't say what *exactly* are you doing. Please read
http://www.poedit.org/support.php. It's not at all clear from what
you write under what conditions does the error happen.

Please provide more information: what _exactly_ are you doing to get
this error? I don't see how could this be related to the source code
charset from your mail...

thanks,
Vaclav

Re: [poedit-users] poEdit / dxgettext problem

Hi,

Sorry that my first message was not clear, I will try again.

I have downloaded and installed poEdit 1.3.4 on windows xp using the windows
installer distribution.

I have then set up the path to my source files, and opened a pre-existing po
file.

If I select EDIT / SHOW REFERENCES it functions as I would expect in that if
I right click on a term, the correct line references in the souce files is
shown.

However, I have made some amendments to the source files which will require
new translation entries to be made in the PO file.

From what I have understood (perhaps wrongly) this is achieved by running
CATALOG / UPDATE FROM SOURCE.

When I try this I get a pop-up window entitled "Updating Catalog" that says
: "Parsing PHP files". The working indicator bar progresses to the end of
the window, the pop-up disappears to be replaced by another pop-up window
entitled "Poedit Error" which says "Updating the catalog failed. Click on
'More>>' for details."

When I pull up the details it says :
"Execution of command 'dxgettext --so
"C:\DOCUME~1\Richard\LOCALS~1\Temp\poe2471.tmp" failed (Error 2:"
"Cannot execute program: dxgettext"
"Entries in the catalog are probably incorrect."

I hope this is a bit clearer.

Regards,

Richard

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Unfortunately, that error started to happen
every time I tried to see references or save changes after having poEdit
opened for a few minutes (not when recently opened) so I dropped down my
database and re-created it, as I didn't know how to recover it.
Everything looks fine at the moment, so I guess I did something wrong
...though I can´t recall what.
Thanks for your software and support,
Maira
