using mo-files

Hi,
how can I use translations in mo-files to add to the translation memory and
thus make translations of new programs easier?

Did you read "Translation Memory" section of the manual? It should
give you some answers... If you are having problems with any part of
the procedure, just ask. BTW, poEdit 1.2.2 will contain reworked user
interface to TM creation that will hopefully make adding files to TM
much easier and transparent (poEdit <= 1.2.1 didn't tell you what
files will be included in TM before doing the update, now it does).

Hi,
thank you for your reply! Indeed I found the section in the manual (wasn't
it missing in the previous version I was used to?). It seems to work OK but
some PO-files and some MO-files causes poEDIT to crash when updating the
translation memory.

And I am a bit confused: sometimes an old translations isn't used for
automatic translation. And sometimes poEDIT crashes when I right-click on
on entry for suggestions of a translation.

This should be fixed in 1.2.2, too.

You mean exactly same? It should (if you saved the catalog that
contained it)...

Do you know how to reproduce it?

How to set up a new project properly

Hi,
I tried to extract strings from the new WinPT-tray with PO-edit, just like
I am used to do with GPGrelay. But I cannot manage it. Anyone knows how to
do it?

If set up properly PO-edit will automatically update the PO with new
strings and remove unused strings. And more: it will automatically make a
fuzzy translation of the new strings!

If I do an update in the catalog manager all strings are removed!

The "gear wheel" is greyed out if I open the po-file. Why?

How do I set up the project properly?

It's hard to tell if you don't tell what's the problem...

Actually only guessed translations for new entries are marked as
fuzzy, so that you don't mistake them with correct/verified
translations.

Because you haven't set the updater?

Please read "Updating Catalog" and "Preferences and Catalog Settings"
(section "Catalog Settings") for information. In short, you have to
fill in Paths and Keywords in Catalog->Settings...
