Adding an item to LyX format menu

Hello,

How do I add an item to LyX format menu? Usually I use "Theorem" or "Lemma" but this time I need "Question". It doesn't appear in the drop-down menu and I don't know how to add it.

Thank you very much for any help,

Avi

What I meant was if there is a way to use Helvetica for the whole
document, I found one and I didn´t like it. But, anyway, thank you for
all the responses.

Emil,

I'm not sure if you're still wanting Helvetica, but what works for me is to open the document settings and go
to the Fonts section

The first drop-down selection list is where you set the default font family, i.e. the family that LyX should
use as the basic family for the whole document. Now that you have told LyX what the default family should be
(sans serif), you need to go the the Sans Serif drop-down list and tell it to use Helvetica as the specific
sans serif font-face (which you already set to be used for everything).

This will change the onscreen LyX font to Helvetica, as well as the typeset output.

This will solve your KOMA-Script problems because KOMA will typeset the headings in the sans serif of your
choice, which is specified as Helvetica. It will then typeset the body text according to the default font
family, which you have specified as sans serif-->Helvetica.

Regards,

Daron

LyX format menu: short cut?

Hi,

what is the short cut to jump into the drop-down of LyX formats menu?

I couldn't find it in the manual, but I am sure I saw it there a long
time ago.

Thx.

No I'm afraid. This splits the screens for my document. What are the
keys to undo this? :(

BTW: Working on WinVista with LyX 2.0 beta1.

LyX and Lithuanian language

Hallo all LyX users.
Sorry for my bad English.
I have some trouble with LyX and my native laanguage. When I use LyX (on
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, standart package, LyX version 1.6.5), I cannot use a
Lithuanian abbrevations, like Part (Dalis), Fig. (Pav.).
I have installed a littex package, but it's still unable to write texts
in Lithuanian language.
When i try to set in preferences 'Lithuanian', and encoding to a
language default, LyX shows a error - Keyborad character used is
undefined. You need to provide a definition with \DeclareInputText

or \DeclareInputMath before using this key.

When I try to set encoding to a "UTF8" (Unicode), and leave Lithuanian
Language - LyX shows error - Encoding scheme L7x unknown.

My big question is - how muss I set LyX to, that It were possible to
write texts in Lithuanian language, and after compilation in PDF were
not Figure, but Paveikslėlis, Not Part I, but Dalis I? And how mus I set
LyX to handle correctly UTF8 and Lithuanian language?

I have attatched a archive with LyX screenshots due to ilustrate a my
problem.

Best Regards
Egis.

I don't know whether littex helps -- do you mean a Debian/Ubuntu
package or a LaTeX package (littex.sty). LyX relies on the multilingual
"babel" package. You need to have a file "lithuanian.ldf". In Debian,
it comes with both, "littex" and "texlive-lang-lithuanian".

Try with Document>Settings>Language Lithuanian and without other
\usepackage{lit...} in the preamble.

The "ASCII" encoding should work. You might also try with utf8x.

Better attach a LyX file so we can experiment.

You need a layout file or a module. If you are lucky, there is a module
providing this - either in the list of modules at
Document>Settings>Modules or somewhere at wiki.lyx.org.

Otherwise, you need to read the Help>Customization guide about writing
your own.

Just for the record: it will change the onscreen LyX (GUI) font to
"sans serif" which, depending on the settings in Extras>Preferences
could be Helvetica or a better choice (e.g. DejaVu Sans).
