However, even for the "usual" need of reverting to the version on disk it
would not make sense to overwrite the file you are intending to load! A
warning that you loose your content could be sensible though.

OTHOH, I don't think it is that unusal. Quite regularely on this list I
see sed or perl scripts working on the lyx source to solve a particular
problem.

Not really, as this was just one example for the manifold uses of
external editing. Remember the Unix philosophy of small dedicated tools
working together instead of one app does all.

Change equation, the fonts

Hi:

In my documents I use avant font (I have in the preamble
"\renewcommand\familydefault{\sfdefault}"). But in the equation, the fonts
are, not avant. There are any easy way to configure that in all the equations
LyX use avant fonts, instead times fonts? Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much again, to all the LyX developers, I think that is a great
program!!

Or maybe tell us how you installed everything, so that we can
understand why 1.3.5 uses the 1.3.3 directory at all.

LyX Quickstart

As a newbie on LyX, I'm finding Steve Litt's article to be a very
helpful guide.

Although I'm not a newbie, well at least I think so ;-), I also find Steve's
articles incisive and to the point, in a pragmatical way. Something that I
lake ocasionally. :-)

TOC

Hello LyXers!

I use the class article and style fancy, when i make a TOC it allways says
"Contents" on both the left side and the right side of the page. sth. like
this:

Contents Contents
-----------------------------------------

I would like to have it only on one Side e.g. left:

Contents
------------------------------------------

does anyone know how change it?

Grüße
Matthias

PS: a few weeks ago, i posted this message and didn't get a reply for it, so i
try it again. Sorry for inconvinience.

Transparency lost

When inserting a png image without background in it, I lost the
transparency if I compile the document with pdflatex (I need it because
I work on a beamer presentation).
Any solution to keep the transparency ?

Since I noticed this (as pdflatex compilation is much faster), I
use export to pdf in xfig, works fine.

I use also xfig as an eps importer/pdf exporter in fact.

I did not check
convert -transparent white foo.png foo.pdf

maths fonts

Dear Lyx list,
I have just installed Lyx 1.3.4 on an RH9 system and all is fine ...
except that math symbols do not appear in the maths boxes.
For example, I type
                      \theta
into the maths box and what I get, in red text, is just
                       theta

Everything compiles OK and shows correctly in gv - so what is missing?
