4.3 UI changes

Hi,

I'm developing documentation for the next release of the Xilize plugin and
taking screenshots of some of the global option panes among other things.
Should I be concerned about changes in 4.3? If so, is the current snapshot
of 4.3pre close enough or should I wait?

Any advice appreciated.

Andy

Summary: Entering of other encoding to difficult

Initial Comment:
To open a z/OS C source you have to enter encoding and open six (!!) "more.." submenues to be able to enter
IBM-1047 for "other encoding", this should be easier (why does IBM-1047 not appear in the menue? (JDK 1.5, Win32))

jEDIT should open another file with the encoding of the file currently displayed in the editor, analogous
as it opens a file in the same folder.

But it is great that jEDIT (4.2) can display these sources.

Summary: XML Plugin 0.15

Initial Comment:
It is important that Xerces 2.4 is removed from plugin
central, and 2.6.2 or later be installed in its place.

Xml Plugin 0.15 is now available in CVS.

Version 0.15 Patched for jEdit43pre2, SideKick plugin
0.3.5, ErrorList plugin 1.4, and Xerces 2.6 or later.
[mostly documentation fixes and .props edits ]
Tested with Xerces 2.7.1

Version 0.14 requires jEdit 4.2pre9, SideKick plugin
0.3, and ErrorList plugin 1.3.1.

Summary: Infoviewer 1.5.2 in CVS

Initial Comment:
InfoViewer 1.5.0's help-overriding won't work against
the current jedit in CVS - I removed HelpViewerFactory
and restored the previous action.xml shell for "help".

InfoViewer 1.5.2 works with the latest CVS of Jedit.
Contains some small bugfixes, and a bit of refactoring.

Re: CommonControls plugin

Hi, anyone could help me with this?

I'd really like to be able to submit a new version to plugin central in
the next week or so, together with a couple other plugin releases that
need my changes to CommonControls.

Thanks!

Initial Comment:
I am running on java versions 1.4.2, and also 1.5 and
seeing the same results. When I launch 4.3pre3 i am
getting the editor up, but if I open a file. No part
of the editor re-paints itself. The buttons disappear
and the text area also does the same. If I hover over
the buttons, they will appear again If i click a line,
then I can see the line that I clicked but not the
text on the line, just the actual line space.Im not
sure what changed in pre3. I can run pre2 no problems.
On Windows XP.

I tried to get a bug report from the bad version but

Summary: positive lookahead does only work in the end

Initial Comment:
the positive look ahead expression (?= ) seems to be
working only in the end of the expression. For ex. if
an expression for some words inside tags is needed we
expect this to do the work:
(?= <([^>]*))thewordIsearch(?=([^<]*)>)

it doesn't work, but of course if I remove look
ahead: "(<([^>]*))thewordIsearch(?=([^<]*)>)" it
works, but it doesnt hide the text before the word I
search for.

Adding the necessary lines to sources.list and doing an

in a lot of
GC Warning: Out of Memory! Returning NIL!
eventually ending with a segfault.

Sir, I don't know if you are the right person to send this to, but even if you aren't, I figured you could pass it along: I am just beginning the transition from hobbyist web developer to independent consultant, and as the needs and complexity of my programming has increased (as will happen when you have to juggle XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL all in the same system) I found myself dropping my IDE for the lowest common denominator: flat text editor. In a KDE environment, this meant fish://'ing to a server, and editing with knote, and in Windows, this meant the barebones editor in WinSCP. As I tried to get work done, I always thought to myself "one day, I should just sit down and try to write the program I wish I had. Something with syntax highlighting for all these languages, no worthless crap, and the ability to seamlessly work with files across sftp." Then, one day, while burning off frustration with 'StumbleUpon', I happened to come across JEdit. When coupled with the FTP plugin, (which, thankfully, supports sftp) this editor is the closest thing to perfect I have ever seen. Everything I had been wishing I had had is right here, in this program; and if, eventually, I find something I wish I had, I'm sure there's a plugin for it. Thank you for your work and support on such a sublime editing environment for my web development. ~jon anderson
