Re: What files to backup?

To finish off this thread, I created a Wiki page about backing up jEdit
configuration.

http://community.jedit.org/cgi-bin/TWiki/view/Main/HowToBackUpJEdit

If you get a chance, please review and make corrections.

There is already a link to this page off the jEdit Main Wiki page.

Thanks for the responses to my original posting.

[ jedit-Bugs-1058932 ] Autocomplete not working on Mac OS X

Summary: Autocomplete not working on Mac OS X

Initial Comment:
I have Panther and jEdit 4.2 final installed.
Autocompletion in languages is not working. An example
would be that on Windows editing an HTML file when I
type <h1> and then type </ jEdit will automatically
finish the tag. Not so on OSX.

Summary: soft wrap at text area edge

Initial Comment:
JEdit peeps,

Bug 969442 a few months ago described the problem that has not
yet been fixed, and I thought it worth a resubmission.

The line wrap settings do not allow wrapping at the edge of the
text area like they used to. Setting the wrap length to zero resets
the wrap mode to none. This looks like it was done purposefully,
and if so, should be undone because it makes editing difficult with
varying window widths.

I frequently use a vertical split to reference two or more files
simultaneously, but I now have to switch back and forth.

Thanks for everything. JEdit is still the best editor I've found.

Summary: Tags plugin doesn't work with ftp plugin

Initial Comment:
From my use of these plugins it's pretty apparent that
the tags plugin has no ability to access tags files on
an ftp server even if the you browse to the tags file
in the plugin options dialog. It would be helpful if
it would work. Of course, it would also have to
understand to access files on the ftp server from
relative paths in the tags file. My email address is

Initial Comment:
Thanks for developing this great package!

I've found that the 'line comment' option does not work
for fortran 90 code. It seems to work for all other
languages though ...

I'm using jedit version 4.2 final on SuSE linux 9.0

Thanks very much,

Pete

A marco written with encoding UTF-8Y for remplacing
special characters (such as é, è,..) with their LaTeX
representation only works if it is opened in another
buffer at the time it is executed. If it is not opened, the
special characters are not found!

Summary: alt key partially loses focus after ctrl key released

Initial Comment:
I have the ctrl-alt-≤COMMA> keyboard shortcut linked to
"shift indent right", and alt-T is shortcutted to "go
to previous line". These are just example combinations
for testing, I'm having the problem described below
with other ctrl-alt combinations.

I often try to issue the following commands:

ctrl keypress
alt keypress
<COMMA> keypress
(shift indent right activated)
<COMMA> keyrelease
ctrl keyrelease
[alt key is still down]

Summary: Runtime Exception in Open File Dialog on Mac OS X

Initial Comment:
Every once in a while jEdit displays a BeanShell Error
when I go to open a file (via menu, toolbar button or
command-o) or other file dialog (such as save as, save
a copy, etc). This seems to happen most often when
jEdit has been running for a while and I've put my
laptop to sleep a few times. Quiting and restarting
jEdit resolves the problem.
