[Jed-users-l] using gpm with jed .99.19 in ubuntu linux

The Makefile generated by 'configure' in jed .99.19 does not have default information about activating
gpm support filled in and commented out as it was in older versions. Is it still necessary to modify that
Makefile to enable gpm? Is gpm relevant to/used by gnome-console or the KDE equivalent, rather than
xterm? The documentation of the recent version says that gpm support is 'built-in': what does this mean?

Many thanks, Henry Harpending

Hi Swithun,

Thanks for the pointer. You are right, it looks like there are
reasonable similarities between AsciiDoc and RST on the front-end.
(Looking at the back end, however, I'd say AsciiDoc was stronger.)

I guess I now have the incentive to dig into S-Lang so I can write my
own AsciiDoc mode. :)

No.

You have to disable it, if you don't want it.

% ./configure --help G gpm
  --disable-gpm disable gpm mouse support

Schöne Grüße, Jörg.

Re: [Jed-users-l] using gpm with jed .99.19 in ubuntu linux

Thank you Mr. Sommer.

I realized after I wrote this question that xterm is not the same as the linux console. I cannot even boot into
a linux console with my ubuntu linux distribution.

I have noticed that under Mac OS X I have no gpm functions in the Mac Terminal program, but the (free) terminal
emulator Iterm for the Mac gives me full gpm functions. It also allows a wider range of keys to be assigned
(like ^/) than does the Mac terminal. This is just for information for anyone using a Mac.

Does anyone know how to achieve gpm functionality in a linux terminal emulator, of which there are several?

Thanks, Henry Harpending
