[Jed-users-l] Is this list still active?

I've been looking at the archives, and it doesn't appear that there's been
any posts since 2004?

If there is anyone still reading this list: I was looking for a copy of the
lout mode for jed. I know that there was one, but the authors website
doesn't appear to exist anymore.

Thanks!

George

The list is still active. The archives have regrettably fallen into
disrepair. The website you probably want is http://jedsoft.org/jed/

Perhaps someone on the list knows about the mode you're looking for!

Re: [Jed-users-l] Is this list still active?

Hi Bob,

Yeah, I've been on the jed web site and checked the modes available there --
didn't list the lout mode.

The original reference I found for the lout mode was on the jed-users
mailing list back in 2001:
http://jupiter.jtan.com/~wingnut/jed-historical/msg02221.html

Unfortunately it appears that the references in that email are no longer
good. And, the only newer reference to the author (from Google) are from
2003.

So, it was my hope that someone else had archived a copy of the mode
someplace.

[Jed-users-l] Question about lack of fsync()

Hi,

I grep'ed the latest source code of jed for fsync() and
found nothing. I am too layman to properly formulate the
question, but does jed somehow rely on the filesystem to
flush data to disk? (like the periodic sync that ext3 seems
to do, if I understand correctly)

I.e., does jed _really_ commit changes to disk when I Ctrl+x Ctrl+s
or does it delegate the decision to the filesystem?

I never had any problem with losing data with jed for ~10 years now,
so I just got curious.

Btw, xjed rules!

[Jed-users-l] Lout Mode

If anyone is interested, I managed to retrieve a copy of Olaf Rogalsky's
lout mode for jed from The Wayback Machine. I'm attaching it to this
message. (If this mailing list doesn't allow attachments, I'll resend it as
an email message.) For the curious, this version is from 2004, and it does
work with the current release(s) of Jed.

That qualifies you for the rank of Zen Wizard Master of the Wayback Machine!

Attachments are ok, within reason; the usual file extensions (exe,
bat, com, etc) are blocked.

Could one or two of the subscribed multitude please respond to this
post? With the new list machinery (mailman) I'm still not sure
messages are really getting out to *everyone*. TIA

I don't know about being a "Zen Wizard Master" - just more desperate to find
a copy of this mode. ;)

In fact, if I was more of a master, I would have found the attached 0.2b of
the mode before I sent version 0.1 out.

However, I will note, a quick diff between the two only shows differences in
the comments (ie, installation docs).

Which is quite understandable (don't want to be spreading virii). It also
appears there is a size based "hold" on messages too....also understandable.

I didn't see it either...  But I just sent out version 0.2b attached
to another message.

My attempts to track down the author have failed.  However, I think we
have sufficient permissions to place this in Jedmodes based on the
comments:

% jed_mode is written by Olaf Rogalsky,
(olaf.rogalsky <at> theorie1.physik.uni-erlangen.de)
% No license, do whatever you like with it.
% Version 0.2b, very loosly based on latex_mode

While IANAL, I believe the license comment allows us permission to
place this in Jedmodes. Maybe if/when I become proficient in both

Just a test of whether the new list machine properly transmits
