Have you tested it? It works perfectly for me. I created the patch by following
http://live.gtnome.org/GnomeLove/SubmittingPatches so I think it should be valid.

[Bug 169055] New: Cursor should only blink when window has focus

Summary: Cursor should only blink when window has focus
           Product: conglomerate
           Version: 0.9.0
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Normal
         Component: Code - Editor Widget
        AssignedTo: conglomerate-auto <at> lists.copyleft.no
        ReportedBy: hondaguru <at> earthlink.net
                CC: all-bugs <at> bugzilla.gnome.org

I've been meaning to file this one for a while now. I've noticed Conglomerate
consumes a large amount of processing time when I leave it open for weeks. I've
traced 90% of the load back to the blinking cursor. In all other editors I
could find, the cursor blinking is stopped once another window steals focus.
This effectively saves processor time when the user can't possibly be entering
text into Conglomerate.

Sorry, but your patch really looks very strange. The problem is that
g_strdup_printf is supposed to call with following arguments -

g_strdup_printf(format_string, arg1, arg2)

where format string specifies output and have modifiers like %s which are
replaced by arg1 and arg2 strings. But what the reason that you insert text like
"Text %s" as arg1. Do you want to show it to the user?

Note -- it would be nice if text were copyable within the dialog of doom so that
I could find this page faster :)

Well I was just following what Christian Rose said in comment #2. I didn't
really looked if the add of %s was necessary.

------- Additional Comments From Christian Rose 2005-03-04 07:07 -------
What I intended to suggest in comment 2 was only that the specifier for the text
to be shown was moved inside the message, so that the translator can reposition
the text to be shown inside the message if necessary.

Obviously I did *not* suggest that we show printf-style specifiers in the final
string shown to users. Solving this properly in order to get the desired
functionality described in the previous paragraph may require two subsequent
sprintf-style (g_strdup_printf) calls or something like that, but I have
purposely left that implementation decision open to whatever person
knowledgeable in C and glib programming that decides to implement this.
