Using BXE and docbook

Hi all,

I have read
http://lists.bitflux.ch/pipermail/bx-editor-dev/2006-February/000432.html
and tried to re-patch the current BXE (revision 1847) to have DocBook
work. Patch is attached.

I am really missing a DocBook example, but I understand that you cannot
add it as it is not (explicitly) supported. I really need BXE to work on
DocBook files for my open source project. I have added by testcase (I
test it by putting it in the examples/ directory); it contains the
Kahlua DocBook NG release (http://www.docbook.org/docbook-ng/kahlua/)
simplified Docbook scheme. I haven't chosen it for any particular
reason, just picked up one.

When I access the 'docbook/' website (Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.16) I get a
hung BXE loading screen and the following in error console

-------------------------
Error: this.ownerDocument has no properties

Question about the RSS and XLST2 examples

Hi there,

I'm going through the learning curve as I try to install bxe for a website
that is powered by Apache Cocoon. I'm just a plain old Sys Admin, and
XSL, XSLT and javascript is all new territory for me.

Anyway I've installed this version of bxe :

http://svn.liip.ch/repos/bxe/2_0/trunk

and I've enabled Webdav in Apache2.

I visit the RSS example, make a change, and press save. In the Apache log
I see a "PUT ... 204" and the save works (I can grep my changes in
rss.xsl).

However when I visit the XSLT2 example and press save, this time I get a
pop up dialog box with some numbers, like 2008 and 01, and some words like
Liip AG. In the Apache log I see "POST ... 200" and the save does not
work (I grep for my changes in the file system and find nothing).

I need help please, understanding why the XSLT2 example is using a POST
and why it is not working.

With thanks,

Warren.

Customizing bitflux for my xml files

Hello,

After so much of searching, I found bitflux to be a very useful WYSIWYG xml editor.
I have xml files associated with CSS2 that I would like to edit. I do not have any relaxNG. The xml has reference to a simple dtd.
I tried to open this file making necessary changes in the config file, index file etc and tried to open it in Mozilla but in vain.

I request someone to kindly help me in opening my file. Is there any document / help file which gives me some info abt this ?

I have just the css, xml and the dtd.I do not even have the xsl files.

Looking forward for a reply,

Wishwas.

Validation Alert: The attribute bxe_xpath is not allowed in div

I'm attempting to use an XSLT template as opposed to index.htm to create the BXE browser page. The reason: I
have to use a Cocoon framework developed by my research group. The resulting XHTML page contains the
following snippet for the BXE editor:

 <div bxe_xpath="/xhtml:homepage/xhtml:body" id="bxe_content"/>

The content.xml file is inserted into the webpage (onload) and the editor works okay, except I get the
following validation error:

The attribute bxe_xpath is not allowed in div

When I make the first edit BXE asks if I desire to delete the bxe_path attribute. Answering yes deletes the
horizontal line at the top of the editing area but from that point on everything works fine.

Are there any suggestions for fixing this?

which one did you take?

http://svn.liip.ch/repos/bxe/2_0/trunk

or

http://svn.liip.ch/repos/bxe/trunk/

or

http://svn.liip.ch/repos/bxe/branches/bxe_2_0/

:)

(the correct one is the first one...)

mmh, FF 3 isn't really tested yet. FF developement is usually a big
moving target, so it's pretty frustrating. Maybe we should take a look
now as it should be finished soon, AFAIK

bxe-2 is showing borders around block elements

Hello,

I'm using BXE-2 with my own schema. The editor displays dotted borders around all my block level elements (I think even around inline elements). Is there a way to avoid this? For example by setting a certain css style?

Thanks in advance for your reaction!

Kind regards,

Björn

Drawer plugin not working: update

Hello,

Yesterday I reported that I couldn't get the Drawer plugin (kupu) to work for selecting images from a library. I spent some time debugging the scripts and changed some lines of code (callback functions are only handled in bxe_appendChildNode and not in bxe_appendNode) and managed to start up the plugin by inserting an 'afbeelding' (image) element.

One thing that I found out is that the Kupu Drawer plugin is written for the xhtml schema. There is no option to insert your own element. It always is inserting an 'img' element with a 'src' and an 'alt' attribute. My schema uses the 'afbeelding' element and the 'bron' attribute for insertion of images. I now fixed this in the code, but it really needs to be possible to configure this behaviour from a configuration file.

My next question is whether this is the mailing list to discuss these things, or should I also assign to the developers mailing list.

Thanks again for your reaction!

Kind regards,

Björn

P.S. this is what I like best about open source software over e.g. Xopus. If it's not working you can always try to fix it....

Drawer in BXE 2.0

Hello,

I'm quite new to BXE, but got it working already in combination with the eXist XML-DB (webdav) and cocoon. One thing that I can't figure out is how to enable the Drawer library plugin. I took a look at an example from the 0.9.x version, but just copying that into my 2.x environment (config.xml) doesn't seem to work.

Can anybody please tell me where I can find a working example, or does anyone have some example scripts?

Thanks in advance for your reaction!

XHTML 1.0 Strict validation?

  Hi!

For my thesis I'd need to know what kind of validation the Bitflux Editor uses
by default in FluxCMS. It seems to me like it would be XHTML 1.0 Strict,
maybe it would even comply with 1.1? However I couldn't find any information
on this anywhere, so what I'd need is a statement to refer to. :)

  cheers, Simon

Getting out from a list resp. appending text below a list

Hi

I have an unordered list and below no other text resp. no paragraph, e.g.

<ul>
  <li>Hello</li>
</ul>

Now I would like to insert some text below this list, e.g.

<ul>
  <li>Hello</li>
</ul>

<p>Sugus</p>

, but everytime when I hit return
I will receive another list item. I have tried clicking on the list
widget once more to "stop" the list, but
then the whole list is being deleted.

Any idea how I can do this without having to edit the source?

Cheers

Michael
