epub

I download last version of Abiword, and are using it in Windows XP
Is it any way to save a document (doc, docx, txt, rtf) to epub format.
With the increasing use of digital ebooks, this is really a must!
I use for this the Atlantis word processor, but will like to use Abiword.
Thanks for your advise.

             Best regards, Eduardo Sadier

Re: epub

Hi Eduardo,

Thanks for trying Abiword and the head up. We will add ePub format
support to Abiword this summer, in the Google Summer of Code program.

Dear Sham,

The AbiWord program is provided under the GPL v2.+ license.
You are welcome to distribute AbiWord as long as you provide a clear
description that enables the users to access the source code of the
program. A clear link to our website at http://www.abisource.com would
be sufficient.

Cheers

Martin

A PDF save bug...?

Hello Abi-Source-rers!

I'm using the latest Abiword in Puppy Linux 5.2.5 (the latest Puppy Linux) -

This is the most stable Abiword I've yet used, there are still glitches when saving as PDF, or when trying to
save previously saved PDF files, when giving them new file names... The fonts and paragraph formatting go
weird and wonky...

Some of the trouble might be in fonts I've downloaded and installed - they are recognized in Abiword and type
out all right, with the odd drop-out of a character here or there - These are free True Type fonts
("Lakeshore Drive" to be precise, in this case...) - Perhaps Abiword is not fully recognizing them or able
to properly save them in PDF...

Just letting you know - This is not a MAJOR fault/bug, but it DOES require extra time and going back over the
same work over and over...

Hope the great and generous work at Abiword - It's MUCH appreciated!

- mehermuchacho

Abiword and Autokey - Linux

Hello!
I am using Abiword 2.8.2 with an ubuntu based linux install. I am also using a program for abbreviation
expansion/running scripts called Autokey (http://code.google.com/p/autokey/)

When I type an abbreviation I want to be expanded into the document, Abiword deletes the last letter of the
abbreviation and inserts all but the first part of the abbreviation to be inserted.

However, the program will correctly insert the abbreviation when I pull up autokey's pop-up window to
select and insert an abbreviation.

Autokey engine is using X EvDev

I'm looking for suggestions on how to have Abiword delete the whole abbreviation and then allow the
expanded text to be inserted correctly.

I should note that in all other programs Autokey correctly deletes the abbreviation and inserts the full
expansion correctly.

Thanks for any help.

Marsha G.

Re: Abiword and Autokey - Linux

Hi Marsha,

Thank you for interesting report. I had not heard of autokey before.
I'll give it a try and fix whatever abiword bugs exist with it.

Can you try abiword-2.8.6? It has many fixes over 2.8.2.

Cheers

Martin

file-hashing

sender: H.Palmer
Op.Sys: Microsoft Windows XP 2002, SP3
Abi version 2.8
Abi downloaded early 2011 (Abi file still there, offers 'unsubscribe'
but no details of version etc.)

I installed abiWord to write letters, etc. A big improvement on Open Source.

After some time found Abi plunging around my filespace looking for
documents to convert.
I did not ask for this and do not want it. I suggest user should be
INVITED to take up this offer.

Today I found an important tax docuent totally garbled; columns
deleted, multiple crossings out in red...
Now unusable.

Can Abi convert this mess back into its original form?

I cant believe that Abi does not support a document in columns.

Can you suggest commands which remove crossing-out, i.e. help me to
salvage bits?

The document has my tax information 2008-2010. I can send you the
garbled form, but ot for publication.

Thankyou, H.Palmer

That is weird: AbiWord will never try to convert your documents without
you explicitly opening the file in AbiWord, and saving it as a different
file format.

Are you sure AbiWord is responsible for this?

It almost sounds like a document with the 'track revisions' option
turned on.
