[ANN] AbiWord 3.0.0

Hi,

I took some spare hacking cycle during the GNOME summit being held here
in Montréal to finally release AbiWord 3.0.

This is the code from the ABI-3-0-0-STABLE branch I have tagged a while
back.

You can find the source code for it at:

http://abisource.com/downloads/abiword/3.0.0/

We still need a Windows developer to change the version of the MSVC
project and build for us 3.0 for Windows.

Thanks,

Hub

[ANN] wv 1.2.6

Hi,

With Dom's blessings, I pushed out wv 1.2.6. This is a bug fix release.

Thanks to all the contributors.

You can get it from http://www.abisource.com/downloads/wv/1.2.6/

Here are the changes:

1.2.6 - 2009/07/13

Important:

  - Restore the soversion major to the value of 1.2.4 because ABI didn't
change.

Fixes:

  - Bug 11547: unportable test construct. (Thomas Klausner)
  - Fix typos in wvWare's help message.
  - Fix a few mis-matched wvMalloc/malloc/wvFree/free combinations. Use

  - Bug 9705: Default font alignment in paragraph was incorrect.
  - Bug 10125: Crash in the PAP handling. (Hubert Figuiere)

[ANN] AbiWord v2.6.2 Released!

AbiWord v2.6.2 Released

AbiWord 2.6 is a multi-platform word processor that combines
state-of-the-art usability, powerful features, and excellent
interoperability. Furthermore, it features a powerful framework for
supporting custom extensions. AbiWord v2.6.2 is the latest stable
release, which compared to v2.6.0 contains several bugfixes and enables
the experimental collaboration plugin on the Windows platform (we never
released v2.6.1 publically).

This release includes the following changes (and more!):

* We've enabled the experimental collaboration plugin on the Windows
platform. This plugin allows allowing users to collaboratively work on
the same document in real-time. The user interface is still a bit rough
around the edges, but this will be improved upon in future AbiWord
releases.
* Make our presentation plugin work.
* Fix a bunch of small bugs in our XSL-FO, Applix, LaTeX, WML and HTML
import/export filters.

Note: The equation plugin on Windows systems is currently unavailable.
If you require equation support in your documents, then please continue
using AbiWord 2.4.6. Future AbiWord releases will include equation
support again on Windows systems.

[ANN] AbiWord 2.6.0 Released!

AbiWord v2.6.0 Released

March 24, 2008

AbiWord 2.6 is a multi-platform word processor that combines
state-of-the-art usability, powerful features, and excellent
interoperability. Furthermore, it features a powerful framework for
supporting custom extensions. AbiWord 2.6 is the most stable and capable
AbiWord release ever. In addition to fixing hundreds of bugs reported by
our users, it contains several exciting new features.

This release includes the following changes (and more!):

* Greatly-improved support for languages like Thai and Arabic using a
new Pango based renderer (Unix platforms)
* We've included a new GNOME Office plugin that allows embedding
Gnumeric charts into your documents (Unix platforms)
* Ability to open files on remote shares, ie. samba, ftp or ssh shares
(Unix platforms)
* A new experimental collaboration plugin, allowing users to
collaboratively work on the same document in real-time. There are
currently 3 communication backends supported: an XMPP based one (only
available on Unix systems, and it could use some love), a pure TCP/IP
based one and one that integrates with the One Laptop Per Child Sugar
interface. Please note that we consider this collaboration feature
experimental, as it hasn't seen a lot of testing outside the One Laptop
Per Child deployments. Also, we are not sure yet that we won't need to
make slight protocol changes to accommodate some new features. This
means that the current version of the plugin might not be able to

The changes from v2.5.1 to v2.5.2 include, amongst others:

* The addition of a new experimental OpenXML import filter
* A Windows port of the experimental AbiWord Collaboration plugin
* Improved start-up time on Windows systems
* Support for native Windows Vista menus
* Allow dragging and dropping images in and out of AbiWord (Unix)
* Quite a few improvements to the OpenDocument filter

sure you specify an installation directory separate from your AbiWord

any bug you may find. Please report these to
http://bugzilla.abisource.com/. Binaries will hopefully show up within a

[ANN] AbiWord 2.4.1 Released

AbiWord v2.4.1 Released

The AbiWord team is happy to announce AbiWord v2.4.1. Since the 2.4.0
release we have received a lot of great feedback from our users, which
led to a number of useful bugreports as well. This is the first
bugfixing releasing in the new stable 2.4 series to address some of
those bugreports.

The changes from v2.4.0 to v2.4.1 include, amongst others:

* CAN-2005-2972: Fix several stack-based buffer overflows in the RTF
importer
* Fix the BiDi direction in menu strings (Windows)
* Fix various crashers related to Equation editing

The full Changelog can be found at
http://www.abisource.com/changelogs/2.4.1.phtml

Because of the fixed security bug in the RTF importer, we strongly
advise all users to upgrade to this latest release.

Note to Mac OSX users: please aware that the font rendering in 2.4.1 is
still a work-in-progress. Depending on the fonts used the quality of the
rendering may be sub-optimal. We are working hard to address this issue.

We are very much interested in any bug you may find. Please report these
to http://bugzilla.abisource.com/.

ANN: wvWare 1.2.0 released

(forwarded message)

From: Dom Lachowicz

New schnazzy version that uses libgsf, libxml2, and
glib. wvSumamry sucks 50% less. And etc. Nothing's
changed in a few months, so a release was overdue.

Thanks for all of your help! Special thanks goes out
to TF, Row, and FJF.

Best,
Dom
