Confuses me too!

Done. Thanks for poking me to actually do something about this.

Message sent through gmane missing from gmane, present in mailing list archive

A message I sent to the MiKTeX mailing list (gmane.comp.tex.miktex)
through gmane's newgroup interface does not appear in gmane. It did,
however, reach the mailing list, and appears in the archives:

Gmane (apparently) not subscribed to ipv6 <at> ietf.org (gmane.ietf.ipv6)

Hello,

An attempt to post to gmane.ietf.ipv6 resulted in this interesting
message: <http://article.gmane.org/gmane.ietf.ipv6/18466>. It says
ietf-ipng <at> m.gmane.org isn't subscribed to the list - but some other
address must be, as Gmane receives the list's messages.

Is it possible that Gmane uses different addresses for sending and
receiving? In either case, please make sure all relevant addresses are
subscribed (https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ipv6).

Thanks,
Roman.

Now fixed. It was a missing encryption library on the new server.

I checked the first group. Looks OK to me.

Well, what happened this time was that "we" tripped over the
FibreChannel link to the RAID box, so things kinda went AWOL for a
while.

[ot] javascript basics group?

It may be a little over the top asking this here... but where else
really?

Anyway, looking at the javascript groups on gmane, they all appear to
have fixated on some speciality or addon to javascript.

I'm wondering if any of them are something on the order of the
perl.beginners group.

It appears not, and I'm too retarded with javascript to really be able
to tell just by browsing. In what browsing I did, things appeared to be
very specialized and nothing appeared lowlevel/basic.

I wondered if anyone here might know which of the present groups may
be a place where beginner questions will be welcome.... or maybe know of
another nntp accessible javascript group that is not on gmane?

Broken XOVER?

Hi.

There is some kind of bug in the responses of the XOVER command.
One such problematic line can be seen by requesting an
	XOVER 95882-95884
for the group
	gmane.comp.video.ffmpeg.devel

The line returned for message 95883 is completely broken and contains
13 tab characters, which makes parsing the "references" impossible.

Below is a python script that shows this

8<-----------------------------------------------------

from nntplib import NNTP
newshost = "news.gmane.org"

s = NNTP(newshost, readermode=True)
resp, count, first, last, name = s.group('gmane.comp.video.ffmpeg.devel')
print resp
print 'Group', name, 'has', count, 'articles, range', first, 'to', last
first = "95882"
last = "95884"
print (first + '-' + last)
resp, subs = s.xover(first, last)
print resp
for item in subs:
    print item
resp = s.quit()
