This weekend, I will finally be moving the news server from the failing old machine to a new spiffy machine with FW raid etc. Expect outages. In particular, spooling of new messages will stop for a few hours while syncing over overview files and the like. -- -- (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) larsi <at> gnus.org * Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen

"Non-Public List" - how does it work?

Good morning! I'd like to get some lists subscribed by Gmane. The list owner however wants, that only those people can send mails to the list, that are subscribed to the list. This means, the list should be what you call "non-public". Now, how does that work? How does Gmane know who's subscribed to the list and who's not subscribed to the list? Thanks a lot, Alexander

Kinda looks like things are up again now. There's a backlog of messages, of course, but that's being handled now. -- -- (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) larsi <at> gnus.org * Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen

There's one kind of filter that didn't seem to be applied when the messages were queued up while the news server was down. When the queue was flushed, the messages that should be been discarded were posted to the groups. But the problem should be gone now. -- -- (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) larsi <at> gnus.org * Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen
