Malreports again

The spam autoreporter is running amok again, reporting seemingly
everything in at least gmane.culture.region.indonesia.ppi-india.
Someone must be feeding the articles to Razor:

Cheeze. Perhaps I should just mark that group as one that doesn't
want spam reporting...

Perhaps a throttler on the autoreporter would be a good idea? If,
eg., over a 1000 articles is suddenly reported out of the blue, for a
newsgroup, it might be an idea to stop reporting and flag this as an
issue...?

Probably. On the other hand, there are very spammy groups that the
spool sweep thing is doing the right thing for. And this is a
one-time occurrence (the spool is being swept only once, and the sweep
will be finished in a week or so), so adding code to this is probably
not worthwhile.

Thread listing not being updated for gmane.comp.search.xapian.devel

The web interface to gmane.comp.search.xapian.devel at
http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.search.xapian.devel reports the latest messages
to the xapian-devel list as those posted on Feb 15th 2007
(I haven't checked the NNTP interface).

However, there have been several discussions on the mailing list since then.
Olly Betts reports that the messages are actually accessible via the web
interface, but not listed in the thread listing:

"... I do have direct access to the gmane spool directory and it
has my the latest message from today in it. It's even available via
the web front-end:

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.search.xapian.devel/972

I guess that the gmane's weaverd is unhappy, so the threads aren't up to
date. gmane.discuss is the place to report it."

So, I'm mentioning it here in the hope someone will be able to fix it. :-)

All is well in the NNTP interface.

I think I've sussed out the problem. Both of the more recent discussion
started from a message sent to xapian-commits, and loom has threaded
all the messages onto the one in that group:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.search.xapian.cvs/3615/focus=972

That's a nice feature in some ways, but it results in the suppression of
threads from the group they mostly take part in, which I'd say is a bug.
The replies don't show up in the other group either:

http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.search.xapian.cvs

Cheers,
    Olly

Yeah, I haven't quite worked out what's going on in the cross-posting
code in weaverd. It's definitely buggy, though.

google indexes blog.gmane.org but not article.gmane.org

I've noticed that google searches for content in gmane always return
links to blog.gmane.org but never article.gmane.org.

Is this deliberate?

I'm not entirely sure why Google isn't indexing article.gmane.org
(there's a clear link path from www.gmane.org with no robots.txt
exclusions in the way), but I could look into it. A robots.txt could
be used to prevent blog.gmane.org from getting indexed.

Perhaps it's just my personal preference, though... I find
article.gmane.org much easier on my eyes than the "blogified"
interface. Plus having google link to exactly the article with the
match (rather than the month in which it was posted) seems like it
makes more sense.

No dice -- last week of postings hasn't come through:

  http://maillist.caucho.com/pipermail/resin-interest/2007-March/thread.html

The list info has completely changed, BTW. They had a server
meltdown. Here's the new info page:
